I recently ran over and cracked my m-style carbon fiber mirror cap and saw the opporunity to repair it with Kevlar-carbon aramid fibers, so I found the last two minutes of this video really helpful. Im not a pro but lets hope for the best outcome 🙏

You know what? Not perfect, but to be something you cooked up in your garage, it looks phenomenal! Good job. Kinda makes me want to try it on my V3!
@pegorenzolab70382 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much man. You get the point. I cooked up all this stuff in my little garage without any expensive tools. I know that’s not perfect but that’s my best for now. I really appreciate your comment and I suggest you to try to build something for your V3. Stay tuned for the next videos 😎

@@pegorenzolab7038 YESSIR! I want to try and make the mirror caps and some other front pieces that are plastic and no one seems to make them in CF. Hell, if we get good enough, maybe a front trunk for the new C8

Great work! What if I were to use regular carbon that’s been saturated with resin and waited until it’s passed gel stage, little over tack stage…?

Great work! What material did use for a mold at the beginning?
@pegorenzolab7038 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used a combo of gelcoat and fiberglass. You can find all the materials list on the Easycomposites website or their KZfaq channel 🤙

after done with that, how do you put clips behind it, to clip with the side mirror(body)
@brendonbrown772 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing as you're using Easy Composites release agent, you're also using their XPreg? If so, don't put the breather fabric on top of the consumables stack. Put it on the outer face of the mould. I know it sounds strange but it works. Also worth experimenting with your cure schedule to improve the finish. These changes could reduce the need to resin coat and all the sanding 👍 That said, good DIY effort 👌

Just curious why you didn't use one price of fabric? Going through the process of making these caps you created more work for yourself and a very visible seam. Good work!
@pegorenzolab70382 жыл бұрын
Hi, I learned the lesson on the road 😂 I uploaded another video where I made that mirror cap with a single piece of fabric. That looks so much better without the seam but the laminating process isn’t easier.
