Thank you very much. I've been watching and learning a lot from this channel. I live in Taiwan and I REALLY miss so many simple things from back home in Canada. Ever since coming across your channel, I have learned to make many of my favorite foods that I grew up with. And all of the people on this channel make it VERY easy to follow the instructions. I especially like the way Julia (I hope I have her name right) explains why you do things. Using lemon juice instead of real lemons is a perfect example. Fresh lemons are everywhere here in Taiwan so I would've used them. Thank you again. You make this poor humble man seem like I actually know how to do things in a kitchen.

Back in the 1950s and '60s my mom used to make homemade jam from the blackberries we grew in our yard and from strawberries we picked at local farms. I never got into doing it, but after watching this video I'm inspired to give it a try. The town of Marysville, Washington, will be having their annual strawberry festival not too long from now, and that will be the perfect opportunity.

I should add that I watched this segment when it first aired in May of 2017 and told myself to do it then...but I procrastinated. But over the last two years I've acquired a big Le Creuset cocotte, a canning funnel, a Thermapen, and jar tongs. Since I have the same tools you used here, I don't have any excuses. I'm going to do it!

@@seikibrian8641 Here's some accountability! I'm excited for you, so let me know once you've accomplished it. I used to do canning days with my mom and grandmother (dreadful, due to cramped indoor quarters and no ventilation on scorcher days), but I don't have quite enough equipment to do it on my own yet (although when I do, I can assure you that I'll crank that AC to blizzard mode). It sounds like you're all set. Have fun at the festival and good luck!

@@mungbean345 Thanks! The Marysville Strawberry Festival is in June, so I have a little time to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. I may not wait that long, though; I heard an ad on the radio today that one of my local markets already has fresh strawberries (probably sent up from California or Mexico), so I may go in this weekend to see how they taste.
