I bought the Coletti percolator three months ago and it's the best coffee maker I've ever owned! I highly recommend one to anyone wanting high quality coffee with no plastic or heavy metal contamination. 100% stainless and glass is why I bought it.

Well, I'm not paid. So for the 6 cup pot. It's very heavy duty stainless. It's not magnetic stainless, so gas or coil element electric stoves. Ours, the coffee markings are off, on the high side, so filling to the max based on the pot markings is an overfill. Don't use the markings. Measuring cup or weight measure a cup of water, a cup being 5 ounces the European standard for a cup of coffee. Yes, they state 5 ounces on their website. You aren't baking here, which is 8 ounces. It struggles to make 2 cups with the 6 cup model. 3 cups, aka 15 ounces, it's fine. Then anything in-between, including 6 cups, 30 ounces of water. We use one rounded table spoon of coffee per 5 ounces of water, 7 minutes perk on medium low, and even low. It varies by gas stove. You want the pot at simmer,with enough heat to cause a boil under that dome, with the trapped water, that the stem is attached to. So once it comes to a pot boil, reduce heat, way down. If you don't burnt coffee will be the result. Also, wetting the basket before putting coffee in cuts down on the fines falling through. If not using a paper filter. I got it for the wooden handle, glass top. It makes decent coffee, and I can't see why anyone would complain about the build, other than it's heavy.

Used a Colletti for several years to replace an ancient electric. It’s amusing that perc’ing coffee is a “lost art”. The Bozeman is fantastically simple and produces a great cup of coffee. Only rec is the globes seem to heat stress and crack after a year or so of use. I’d buy a pair of replacements with the pot.

I use the Bozeman at home and camping. It's easy to use, and the coffee is tasty. I like to perk slow. I get many good memories of visiting relatives and the way they used to make coffee yeas ago in a vintage style percolator. Great customer service also, I just had occasion to speak with them last week. Also good that profits go to charity.

There was a great tip in the comments as to wetting the filter basket(no coffee filter) before adding the coffee to keep your coffee "ground free." Another tip is to put your finger over the hole when adding the grounds to keep them outa' the stem and getting in your brew. Works like a charm.

For those that have grounds in their coffee.... There may be a gap between the basket and basket lid when assembled, as mine did. The grounds will then boil out this gap into the bottom of the pot. (Also seen running down the side of basket when pulling out). And noted when pouring a cup, grounds can flow out w/ liquid. With pot empty and assembled dry, hold down the basket lid and try to pull UP on the stem. If you can... then there is a gap between the basket and basket lid. (The crimp or "ferrule" on the stem that holds the basket height is too low). Add thick stainless steel washer(s) as needed, to close this gap. The amount of grounds in the bottom of the pot will be extremely minimal. Additional option is to slightly flatten the stem where the basket sits so as when assembled, holds the basket in place as to never lose the washers you've added. I never take mine apart... ** I use no filters, and a coarse grind on my Colette hand grinder and get little to no grinds in my pot. Any fine grinds that escape are usually boiled away.

I like my coffee hot. I don't like using coffee makers they just don't seem to get the coffee as hot as I like. Brewing coffee in a percolator is the best. One thing I do is use a marble on the top of the stem when I'm pouring grounds in the basket. I saw this once in a You Tube video. Works really well. Thank you for your video.

I just received my Coletti Perc today.....I did a few test brews and I still need to do some fining since I have never used a perc before. Still, it was better tasting coffee then I have ever had at camp in the past. I was on the fence on this brand of perc but Coletti appears to be a small US based company and not some cooperate powerhouse. I hope this product hold up for this year camping season because I am really going to put it to the test.

I’ve had my Coletti percolator for a few months now and love it! I make the coffee at night time and let it get cold over night so in the morning in my way to work I can have iced coffee (I live in Texas). However I will say I tried some standard disc shaped coffee filters and they were rubbish, you really need the Coletti filters for this pot so you don’t have tons of grounds in your coffee (there will be a few)

For any of you who decide to not use a filter and find a pile of grounds in your coffee, make sure you pour a tiny bit of cold water down the spout and let the pot sit a couple minutes before pouring your cup. That will ensure you have very little grounds in your coffee, though there will still be a tiny bit

David, the Bozeman does not work well on induction stoves. This is true of all 18/8 stainless steel product. 204 steel, which is considered lower quality because it rusts, is better suited for induction cooking. Cutomers who want to use the Bozeman on a induction stove need to put it on a cooking plate.

So I was looking for a new percolator for camping. I've been using and really like my 12 cup stainless Coleman coffee percolator, but I'm the only one in my family of three that drinks coffee and it was hard to justify taking that big ol' percolator camping. I logged on to my Amazon account and started searching for a slightly smaller percolator and that's when I found the Coletti Bozeman. After reading the story of how the business came to be and the owner's prior Infantry service, I ordered it. It'll be here tomorrow. Thank you for your service from one Infantry brother to another. Looking forward to that first cup. 🤟🏻🤟🏻

I found a bunch of grounds after using this perculator. I had to run my coffee through an old coffee maker's mesh filter to pass the perculated coffee through into another pot to get the grounds out. Too much work. Best if this coffee maker had smaller holes like the mesh metal filter at the top and bottom where you put the coffee. This way, no filter is needed and the coffee grounds won't sneak through.

Its shortsge is up stream boiled water overflow back down directly. It didn't go through coffee powder . You can test it. By one cup of water to boil,. And compare to more water boil it. The overflow. Water Downlow. Coffee extration efficiency. When bottom water more hot,. Water up stream frequency. More. And filter pass rate. Cause overflow happen. I hope the maker can redesign to control the boiled water up stream frequency stablely.

Any particular reason why you believe the flavor to be so different?
@eigrp
@eigrp 6 жыл бұрын
For me it's simply the taste. I've had both and the difference is there. Same goes for a drip maker, which is also a percolator of course. I can get superior results with a French press but it can't brew as much coffee at once and it's a pain to take camping. So each solution has its place.
@eigrp
@eigrp 6 жыл бұрын
If you search around you'll find all sorts of coffee snob charts and graphs and science on the actual whys. I just know if I take the Pepsi challenge I can tell which coffee was immersion brewed. I would describe it as a smother, more complete flavor. But when you're outdoors camping, the old percolator can taste might good.
@TheHMER
@TheHMER 5 жыл бұрын
Honestly after seeing how a percolator works I see it is no different [in the process] than an auto-drip maker. I prefer the French press because the taste is smoother. There is a notable difference between French and regular.

@tihzho
@tihzho 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I have to take issue with your method. The peculator process, as what done back in the day (before drip coffee makers and you were born) is the water at the bottom and entrapped by the funnel will get hot first and starts to boil. Those boiling bubbles rise up through the tube, like an airlift pump and pushes water up into the globe making that "perking" sound drips down into the coffee grounds. Eventually all the water heats up and boils, the perking sound stops but the coffee still rises and soaks through the coffee grounds. When that happens you are done, if you continue to boil the coffee and cycle it through the grounds you will over extract the coffee and its bitter..."I'm coming sugar, daddy needs you bad!". In other words its a terrible cup of coffee. This is how my parents made coffee back in the 50's and how I made coffee back in the late 60's. :)

@markraciborski4289
@markraciborski4289 6 ай бұрын
@MitchPR08 old post, but to other readers, yes. The higher heat is just to get the water to full boil faster, once there cut back on the heat as you say. You don't need the extra heat to get the water up the tube once boiling starts, just to maintain it at middle, middle low heat.

I searched for percolator brewing temps but couldn't find anything... are you saying that stainless steel leaches aluminum into the coffee?

The increase in acids usually has a couple of effects on the body. One is lowered pH which causes the body's natural pH leveling mechanisms to pull minerals into the blood wherever they are stored in the body. Nothing alarming about this, except to say the average American already eats way too much low pH food. Two is the oxidative stresses additional acids can cause, which is the reason the body puts cholesterol into the blood to patch the "wounds" that oxidation causes in arteries. Cholesterol is a natural and essential to health, as much of the brain is made out of it and hormones are made out of it. The liver manufactures cholesterol if the body is low and the body rids itself of cholesterol if there is less need.

Ok ! This is a prime example of why America has gone strait hell in a hand bag. Your generation is so out of touch ( because your parents taught you nothing) that you need a video on how to make coffee. So very sad. And you know what will be next? How to shop for food and actual make it. Because now you are teaching your very kids how to eat by having a box dropped off in front of your house and everything is purchased, prepared ready to heat…. Really it’s sad how each generation gets worse and worse. BUT REALLY! how to make coffee?? Shameful and disgraceful but then again look at the state of America… you may as well walk around wrapped in bubble wrap….

Pro tip: Don't embarrass your wife in front of the entire world by pointing out that some coffee grounds went down the tube. Practice before doing the video. And pour her a cup first and let her drink it before you do. You're a poser. Boiling coffee burns it. Coffee should be brewed at 195-205. Stovetop percolators ruin the coffee.
