How to make D&D MAPS with Inkarnate

How to make easy maps for D&D or any other role playing game. Most times we are playing via ZOOM over the internet so having a good digital map is important. Inkarnate makes them really easy, and really great looking!

A few questions: can you make the tree foliage canopy more or less transparent with the trunks and branches showing, so that in-game, the terrain characters are maneuvering on can be seen clearly? Also, can you lay down a hex or grid pattern over the top and size it how you please?

You can reduce the opacity of the trees yes. Yes, it has grid functionality. I normally add a grid with whatever software I use the map in just for simplicity, but yes, you can have the grid right in the map.

@Brianized OK, so like if you're using Roll20 you use the Roll20 program to add the grid? I've been DMing for a long time and I'm trying to drag my old tuchis into the online gaming age. Roll20 is still beyond me for DMing (though not for playing). That said, adding a grid using Roll 20 does sound easier, because then I wouldn't have to figure out how to sync the grids between the map and Roll20.

@Brianized hey, I really appreciate you posting this video, I've never heard of this mapping program and I've been fooling around with it, it's a lot easier to use than previous ones I've tried!

Yup! I just use Owlbear to add the grid. Roll20 would have the same.
