Here is the recipe for
Easy Homemade Peanut Butter Fudge :
Prep Time is about 15 minutes and Chill Time is about 1 hour 30 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2 1/4 cups brown sugar (measured as a packed cup)
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup peanut butter (I use 1 cup -name brand)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups icing sugar (I use almost 4 cups)
Directions:
1- Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat.
2-Stir in brown sugar and milk.
3-Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
4-Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla.
5-Pour over confectioner's sugar (icing sugar) in a large mixing bowl.
6-Beat until smooth (I use a hand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes).
7-Pour into an 8" x 8" pan lined with parchment paper (with overlap to fold over when fudge is firm) and place in refrigerator to chill for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
8- Cut into small squares and enjoy!
Variations you could try :
Substitute chunky peanut butter for smooth to have peanut pieces spread throughout fudge.
Substitute a hazelnut spread like Nutella for the peanut butter to give it a chocolaty nutty flavor.
Or try substituting 1/4 cup cocoa for 1/4 cup worth of the icing sugar when using regular peanut butter to get a Reese's peanut butter cup kind of flavor going.
Thanks for watching - feel free to comment or ask questions and I will do my best to answer them. Hey, if you try this recipe please let me know how yours turned out, if you enjoyed it and if you tried any variations. I would love to hear about it. =) If you would like to subscribe, you will be notified when I post more videos to my channel.

Made this yesterday as a spur of the moment weekend treat. This was first attempt at making fudge since helping my mom as a child & it was so simple & came out perfectly! I was scared bc sometimes people’s homemade fudge is gritty & I was really hoping this one didn’t turn out like that. It didn’t! It’s so soft & creamy & just melts in your mouth. I didn’t have wax paper or parchment paper so I just buttered my 8x8 pan & that worked just fine. My husband absolutely loved it too so I’ll definitely be making this for Christmas this year. Your video gave me the confidence to try it. Thank you!

I can’t wait to make this, when you were pouring the mixture into the pan, I laughed at myself because I was thinking “well now she can just pour that right in my mouth!” I have a similar cooking style, as I like to adapt my recipes to suit my personal taste. I will do as other commenters mentioned and lift my fudge out to cut it because I am all thumbs lol. Fudge is a new adventure for me, so thanks again for sharing!

The fudge looks yummy, and I’m looking forward to trying it! One suggestion - the parchment paper also makes it easier to lift the whole recipe out on to a cutting board and cutting it, which would make it much easier and faster to remove and serve.😍

Hi Jeanne, thanks for watching and leaving me a lovely comment to let me know you were here. I am glad you are looking forward to trying it and hope you enjoy it as much as my family does...still a favorite around here. Thanks for your suggestion, this video was uploaded January 15 of 2014 and if you look through the comments I have been reminded over and over about lifting the whole thing out to cut it on the counter ever since. Please chalk up the gaff to beginner KZfaqr nerves when my brain was not quite thinking logically...my main focus was on making my recipe easy to understand and follow..not on executing a smooth service of the finished product. LOL Color me embarrassed.😳

I am so glad it turned out and was delicious for you. If it did not seem as creamy as mine you could play with the ingredients a bit and add a bit extra peanut butter or butter or milk...just a touch to add more moisture back into the recipe. I think the more you make it the more you will find the balance that works for you. I am happy you will be making it again...it is addictive, isn't it? Hi Edith, thanks for letting me know. Great, so glad you loved it as much as we did. 😀 Sadly, that little red spatula is no more...😢 I loved that one and have not found another like it yet. I don't remember where I got it but it finally snapped in two right where the handle meets the business end of things. It was a cool little spatula because I found it fit in pretty much any pan and worked well for flipping things in tight spaces. It was not really heat proof. One thing is for sure, I will be keeping my eye out for another one!

I noticed your spatula, too. You did do a lot of tapping, then put it back into the pan. I recommend a silicone spatula, like Pampered Chef has. It is made of one piece, so the blade can't come off, and it won't break in the middle. I always look for one-piece spatulas because they can't harbor food particles and bacteria in the space where the handle fits into the blade. Your fudge looks delicious and very creamy.

@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and for the compliments. 🤔As for using peanut butter powder I have never heard of it. I suppose you could try that although you might have to adjust quantities as there is quite a bit of icing sugar in this recipe and peanut butter itself would add moisture and oils that the powder would not. Heck, if you are game on trying a variation of the recipe with the substitutions you suggested please go for it and let me know how it turns out. Thank you for the interesting question in your comments.😁👋

Are you sure it’s only 1/2 butter? I made this, but when I put in my two cups of sugar, it was really thick, and did not change much when it was heated. Adding the milk and bringing it to a boil was ok but my mixture was twice as thick as yours . By the time I added the vanilla, peanut butter and the 10x sugar it was 90 % set!!!lol It fell into the pan ( it did!) but didn’t require much spreading. The flavor is excellent, and I think my peanut buttery hubby will really like it as well. I think the brown sugar really makes a difference!

I also used gas heat, so maybe that was set too high and it boiled a lot sooner.

Yes, 1/2 cup butter is all it takes...I sometimes add just a smidge more peanut butter (once heated it liquifies pretty well and adds to a wetter mix) I think that is why it is only 1/2 cup butter because the peanut butter gets oily when heated too....yes, turning down the gas heat would probably help keep control of the consistency too. I am please you like the flavor and totally agree with you about the brown sugar making a difference. Thanks for trying this recipe...it is still our family favorite. @SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 5 жыл бұрын
Mmmm chocolate peanut butter fudge....yum! I will have to hunt for a recipe in my collection to make some of that. Mind you modifying this recipe would work too. You could substitute half the peanut butter quantity with equal amounts of Nutella - 1/2 cup peanut butter + 1/2 cup Nutella...or add some cocoa in with the icing sugar, the icing sugar would be sweet enough to counter the slight bitterness of the cocoa. Thanks for watching and for the great suggestion, James. 😋👌🍫

What is icing sugar? It looks delish but takes too long to make. You did a great job.
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 4 жыл бұрын
Icing sugar is also known as confectioners sugar, powdered sugar and could be other names too. It is primarily known as icing sugar as this is what is used to make icing for cakes and cookies. It really doesn't take long to make and is so rich, flavourful and adaptable (think using crunchy peanut butter instead of smooth to get peanut pieces throughout the fudge, use Nutella instead of peanut butter for a more hazelnut flavor, adding different things like cocoa to the mix to get a Reese's kind of chocolate/peanut butter flavor creation). Thank you for watching and for the compliments. I appreciate you stopping by.👋 😁

Could this be used for frosting before the chilling ?
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you thinned it out a bit more. I find once it is ready to be put in the pan it is pretty thick already and don't think it would spread very well. I think you would have to experiment with the liquid levels and find just the right amount of thinning that would not ruin the chilling and thickening factor in the end. You have a great idea though, a fudgy frosting...after all a big part of the ingredient is icing sugar...heck, why not? If you do decide to try that out please come back and let me know what you did. Thanks for watching and for asking your excellent question. Have a great day. 😁👍

After adding the powdered sugar it was too dry. Is the liquid correct or too much pows. sugar? I just added milk til I could mix it with the mixer.
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry yours ended up being too dry. I have verified that the recipe is correct as I have it written here. As you can see above in the description box I actually use 1 cup of peanut butter instead of the 3/4 cup it calls for. I don't see a problem making minor adjustments like that (or as you did with the milk) to get it the consistency you need. Just be sure you don't add too much liquid or it will either fail to set or take a loooong time to set.Thanks for letting me know how it worked out for you. =) Hopefully it tasted good in the end for you. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching and leaving your comment. I appreciate the support.

what size microwave to use to melt the peanut butter?
@SusanMillard
@SusanMillard 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, thanks for watching and for asking your great question. I didn't use a microwave to melt the peanut butter. The peanut butter gets added into the brown sugar/milk mixture that you bring to a boil in steps 2 & 3 above. It is that heat that melts the peanut butter so it can be incorporated into the liquid. Hope that helps and thanks again. 😀
