It’s much easier to pull the clay away from the edge while you’re still holding the styrofoam down

You can if you want to. I have a fake cake that I made 2 years ago and I never sealed it and I don’t see any issues with it. It is still sitting on my kitchen counter. So I guess it is a personal decision if you want to or not. 😊💕
