Ooh, another video? An updated version of an older tutorial of mine! Wanted to go into a bit more detail on how I make my templates.
If you want to see how to cut these shapes out of foam, go see this video I made! • (old) Cutting out the ...
If you're wondering how to print these shapes out full size, go here!
• How to Make a Clay Moc...
Instead of me making tutorials for every species, and y'all just using my art style for the shapes, why not teach you HOW I do it, so you can draw your own! And then you'll have your own art style in your fursuits. Let me know if you have any questions!
I'm also thinking of remaking the foam carving process video, since I've changed/updated some of my methods since then.
Next videos planned (and feel free to suggest ones!) :
-follow-me eyes and installation, with the goat commission
-teeth and tongue tutorial, featuring a few different material types
-3 finger hoof hands tutorial, with the goat commission

Basic shape is everything. For a basic canine, long, kinda thick muzzle. With foxes, their muzzle's need to be a bit more narrow, with felines, it needs to be shorter and smaller, and the bear, in this video, the muzzle is big, kinda box like, and medium sized.

i would love to see a tutorial on feet paws! i find with a lot of feet tutorials, there’s not really an ankle. so maybe a knee high foot paw tutorial !
@freckledcatcreations
@freckledcatcreations 4 жыл бұрын
Oh I can do that!! I've been wanting to show how I make my removable shoe feetpaws, and also to show how to use a clay mockup method to make feet, like digitigrade feet with the ankle. I tried knee high feet myself and they came out WAY larger than I like my feetpaws to be, so my tutorial wont show how to make them huge stompers, but I think my current ones come up to mid-calf which is imo plenty high enough. Thanks for the suggestion!! :D

OH This tutorial is great, it makes me want to start on my next suit immediately to try this out! It was super easy to understand which I'm incredibly thankful for. For my first two heads I just went straight from the balaclava rather than making a bucket head first (so I could have moving jaws) but this seems applicable to that too so I can't wait to try this on my next project.

Oh my goodness, I'm so tired of fursuit makers closely guarding their secrets. It's fine if they want to put a price on it, like Etsy patterns or patreon content, but some makers NEVER telling how they do something? Annoying. This fandom is trying to keep learning better ways to make these things! We all need to support each other! You know? lol. Ooh, I'm literally about to make a caribou partial in June-ish!!! I would love to film the whole process for you! If it's the entire partial being made idk if I wanna completely detail it like a full tutorial, since that would be a very long video, and I already have these base guides uploaded already... but it would be fun to show an uncommon species suit be made from the ground up.

I think this is going to be my go-to method for fursuit making, but I was wondering what the exact meanings the horizontal guidelines on the bucket are.
@freckledcatcreations
@freckledcatcreations 6 ай бұрын
Good question! I like drawing random other horizontal lines on the bucket so I can line things up symmetrically on the head! Like making sure the cheeks are placed at the right height etc. If I have a line close to where it should be, I can make sure both cheeks are placed the same in regards to that line. (like... Okay I like this cheek side placement. The top edge is 1 cm away from this line on the bucket. So i need to place the other 1cm away from the line on the other side!)

You don't necessarily need to know how to draw! You could get someone else to draw the shapes for you, or you could just eyeball it. But getting the face shapes down to a certain shape is a bit like drawing, so it might help to have some idea of how to shape the species youre making!

glad this will help!!! so you could do this in literally ANY drawing program that has layers (fire alpaca is free!) or you could do it traditionally on paper too! just get a ruler, measure how tall your bucket is (without the cross pieces) then draw that line on paper, then sketch the head on that! to make different paper layers for the cheeks/etc just put one on top and trace your original drawing :3

@@freckledcatcreations Thank you for responding! That seems pretty straightforward. I was going to use a balaclava head base with elastic sewn in so it could have a moving jaw. Though, this is my first attempt at making a head ever so I might be shooting too high. What are your opinions/suggestions regarding balaclava bases in general?
@freckledcatcreations
@freckledcatcreations 3 жыл бұрын
@@thebedroomshow9010 ooh, I have ALWAYS wanted to try a balaclava only build - just gluiing the face straight onto that. definitley the way to go for a moving jaw, youre right. you'd need it tight. It's ... up to you, it is infamously hard to get foam moving jaws to work correctly, and if this is your first suit, your brain is already going to be VERY busy/using most brain cells just learning how to put the base fursuit head together, so its possible that also adding in the difficult task of getting elastic to move the jaw is gonna be too much for you. it's up to you in the end, but if you go for it, dont get discouraged if it doesnt work out / you lose motivation halfway through! if you want / NEED this to be a win, i would make it as easy as possible. then once youve got the hang of making bases you can add some more complexity to it (i.e. moving jaw element)
