Good advice alway call before you dig and get utilities marked. My insurance isn’t bad though. 2 mil liability little over 100 a month plus insurance on each piece of equipment

My 2M liability is $2400/Quarter. So about $800/month on Skidsteer, Mini, and a Tri-axle, not including any of my pickups. But from the sounds of it I'll be doing some shopping around.

@@coltcrist9035 yeah I would my first quote was expensive. Then I went with with Erie. I pay around $150 a month for 2 mil liability and equipment coverage on new skid steer, mini ex, and 2 tractors. Then I pay state farm $800 a year per truck commercial auto for 500/500/500k

@@WorldsOkayestFarmer You have the right idea…less aggravation, little to no permitting (the permitting process for sewer, bridge repair/replacement keeps getting more complicated ) Doing business with residential customers is usually a better experience than working for contractors or as a subcontractor.

Its amazing what they can do for their size. A e35 or 50 would be ideal also if you can find quick attach bucket setup

Yes I just bought a skid steer also! I mean its nice renting and you build it into the price. until you rent and run into weather and can't use it then I would rather own.

Start small and simple. There is a lot of money to be made. Don’t go over your head on equipment cost. Start with simple jobs. You don’t want to do advanced jobs and screw them up. It will cost you.

You could always hire a float service I bet it’s cheaper then plating the vehicle for heavier weight and wear and tear on your hauling equipment

I also don’t need massive jobs to pay for it one day is profitable it’s a great market doing small jobs for people. No shame here

Farmall Fanatic it’s a great tool to have and yes the wife got me a laser transit to do our patio.

I bought a laser level a few months back and it's a brilliant addition. Makes levelling larger areas easy and also let's you check you have enough fall on trenches for sewer pipe. I think it's invaluable and makes your excavator more productive and your work more accurate.

Benjamin Dean yes a 35 is the way to go I will be upgrading some day down the road! Yes I know what you mean I don’t just rent it to anyone only people I have been to their place on other jobs and can tell they take care of their stuff. You don’t even have to rent it out just another option.

I haven’t really had an issue it will break through most roots unless they are huge then i would just cut it.

Most people won’t even pay you by the hour. When you tell them your hourly rate their first question is “how long will it take?”. I always estimate my jobs at an average pace then when it comes time to get the work done I try getting it done faster that what I estimated it at.

@@WorldsOkayestFarmer This is the receiver I am using. I like how large the arrows are and it's a heavy and rugged unit. I put it on the stick on one area between my thumb hoses and it works well for digging level foundation footers. Other times i use it on top of the blade by sticking it, with its magnets, to a 3x3x1/4" angle iron 4ft long that I put on the blade using a 2 inch hammer union for a mount. For that mount, I welded a 2 inch pipe nipple to the backside of the blade and welded another nipple to the angle iron and then simply screwed each half of the 2 inch union onto them so that i can quickly and firmly attach the angle iron receiver mount to my blade while grading driveways, building concrete floor pads, flat jobs, or i can do slopes with the sloping laser. I have to be careful spinning the excavator house around too much when the upright 4 foot long angle iron is on the blade though, because i tend to forget that it's there and I've caught it with the boom once and pulled the threads off one of the nipples lol. But for a quick n dirty set up on the cheap, it has worked well and opened up the jobs I can confidently take on and made me lots of money. I bought a CAT 303.5 this summer. I absolutely love it. I've been around machines my whole life and it does 98% of the work I need it to do. I was so busy with it this last summer, it's incredible. I make good money as well.

@@alcopower5710 I have ran deer and bobcat and I just don't like them. If I remember I just didn't like the controls. I do want the swing boom and thumb controls on the joysticks and they have to be variable. I also want a machine that I can put the bucket on backwards without having to get off the tractor. Takeuchi are known for being some of the most durable machines in the roughest conditions. I like the controls on the Yanmars, they have the easily reversible buckets, they seem to get some of the best fuel mileage of other machines that it was tested against, I also seem to have more power than some of the machines it was tested against. Komatsu seem to be pretty good machines too. I ran a few of those. They seem to be a pretty decent machine. I also like machines that don't have a lot of computer stuff on them. On machines that have a digital gauge cluster it can cost thousands of dollars to get those replaced because they're not repairable. Another good consideration is availability and cost of parts or repairs. That's something he's personally have to research, and it's also a really good idea to find out what parts tend to wear out or break and always have extras on hand. One guy on KZfaq used to like his Yanmar until it took several weeks to get a necessary part for his machine, and now he hates them. No matter what kind of machine you have you should always have extra parts on hand.

Premium fuel only mine you could tow with any trailer and a 1/2 ton only ways 4000lbs but if you get anything bigger or want to tow a loaded dump trailer i would say 3/4 minimum. Ideal for small jobs would be a E-35 mine does amazing work for its size but some day im going to move up to a e35

I carry insurance on the machine plus i have liability for the jobs we do. I advertise a lot on fb. Renting hasnt been bad i dont rent to everyone. I just dont leave a key and park it back off the road

I would love to buy a used one to rent it out. I’m not trying to start a rental business but thinking if I rent it out, it can help with paying for it. Luckily, I have a neighbor down the street who has a shop at his house and he works on a lot heavy equipment.

Whatever you can afford. Definitely 2.7 but 2 will get it done. I plan to upgrade to a E-42 or at least a 35 when my skid steer is paid off

Hello. I forgot to mention that, the price included a grabber. I bought it as a separate attachment. Engine from Japan Yanmar complies with EU emission standards. Hydraulic motor I believe from USA. Some hydraulic parts from Korea. Some valves from Italy. Other parts from China. I think I will be able to do a small landscaping and a water feature business. Can’t cary the rocks easy without a machine lol. We will see how it does.
