Cocoa Butter Cashmere is a staple for me. I always keep it in stock. I love creating designs with soap dough. I learned about soap dough watching Bee from Sorcery soaps. Making soap dough embeds is time consuming at first but as with everything, you get better the more you do it. I use stencils, I also use the fondant molds to press the soap dough and make embeds, or simply use my hands for other embeds. It’s so therapeutic. I watch KZfaq videos while I’m creating 🥰

Thank you for all that advice. I actually joined the soap challenge this month b/c Lisa from I Dream in Soap is the instructor for Soap Dough. Bee is amazing with the things she creates, I’m always in awe.

Thank you very much for this tutorial! I took a lot of notes, and learned a lot. Because palm oil is getting expensive now, I was really happy to see an alternative. Because of your background in nursing, I am hoping you will be able to answer this question: is there any reason to be wary of the preservatives in the shortening being absorbed through the skin? Because they are well-known to have hormone disrupting effects when consumed, I was concerned. One more question: after the holidays, can you make me a narrower horse soap scraper through the Etsy shop? Have a great day, and thank you! 😊

The short answer is, shortening, is nothing more than hydrogenated vegetable oils, and since trans fats have been banned in United States, shortening has been reformulated entirely. Trans fats are what interrupts the cell membrane function. Shortening is fully hydrogenated and not partially hydrogenated. When oils are fully hydrogenated, they are completely changed from unsaturated to fully saturated fats so no trans fats are present. If you are at all concerned about skin, absorption of hydrogenated shortening, just don’t use it.
