I'm the Evil Ted who makes props and costumes. I’ve worked on Star Trek Into Darkness, Walking Dead, Fifth Element and Guyver, among lots of others. I've made pretty much everything out of every material, but foam is my favorite.
I'm here to share my skills and shortcuts, and help you learn how to make foam costumes and props, too.

I've been hesitant to make any sort of cosplay armor for the couple years I've been wanting to cosplay, yet after watching your series, I was quite surprised to find out how simple (Well, simple is a relative word) it really is to make foam armor. Anyways, thank you so much! I'm going to follow this tutorial to try and make some armor. Thanks for the videos Ted!

Evil Ted- I don't normally comment on videos but I have to say, you make THE BEST tutorials for this kind of thing. Your videos are thorough and informative, but the big thing that separates you from others is the overall quality of your finished pieces. I've been successfully costuming for a long time in leather, plastic, foam and chainmail- you name it... but your videos have helped me "level up" in a major way. Thanks for sharing your techniques, they are a cut above the rest.

That`s cool. You`ve got some skills. I might suggest that you sand the foam seam edges and double coat with the Barge though. I`ve seen far too many broken seams from an improper gluing technique. A properly glued seam will hold for years. Nice even coats. Anyway..I`m enjoying your videos

Hey, Evil Ted Smith, you've helped me so much in my cosplay builds and costume design. I want to help you in return. I noticed you're cutting up a black t-shirt and spraying it to make it sticky. I just wanted to introduce you to this stuff called K-Tape. It's fairly similar to sports tape, but is stretchier, more flexible, and even stickier and is used as support strapping for people with weak joints and stuff like that. I first got introduced to it by my physio to use it on my hyper-mobile fingers. And don't worry about not being able to cut it or anything, even a normal pair of kitchen scissors can get through this stuff without too much hassle and if you've got sewing scissors or scissors from a first aid kit, it's like cutting paper. To top it all off, this stuff comes in massive rolls of 2 inch wide by over 100 feet long (5cm x 103.5cm), and it costs next to nothing compared to any other sports tape. I can't entirely remember, but I think I got 2 rolls for either $50(Australian dollars) total or $50(Aud) each, which is about $36 American. It's easy to use, super cheap, you get a lot of it, it'll save you heaps of money from buying t shirts to cut up, and hopefully that money will let you make more videos for us. I hope this little recommendation helps you, and if you're ever in Perth, Western Australia for whatever reason, please reach out, because I'd love to do some collaboration with you on some projects, whether it's just designing some stuff together, getting some tips on some of my builds, or even just getting to try on one of your amazing pieces, I'd love to work with you in some way.
@EvilTedSmith

Thank you Shay. I stopped doing this technique, I found it's easier to go back over the inside seams with high temp hot glue. I hope to visit Australia some day. Be sure to tell your local Con that you would like to have me as a guest.

I've been working on my own version of a storm trooper. well my problem has been trying to figure out the back and getting it to fit correctly. the shape of the armor considering I don't have a body form. any suggestions?

Wow, nice tutorial. This armor looks really amazing! I like to do some cosplay with armor, but I don’t know if that kind of armor is possible to be done. I have Warframe skin-like armor/suit in mind. Do you have any idea how to make something like this?

Very nice! Btw, if I would do this for my son, how can I model his chest first, so that the armor fits?

Would Foam with the plasti dip coating be strong enough to put in a mould and cast in resin or fibre glass? Coz that would make it strong as funk

Ted, do you have a specific pattern for this? I think it could be adapted for The Martian EVA armor

You need to add red paint on the circle thing that connects to the cable on the chest. To give light effect
