Who hasn't change up a recipe that was handed down?? We have the dishes today because people have always improved on them over the generations or changed up ingredients because they did not have something and created a new dish. Yes, some we make the same and No one will ever cook dishes like your Mom because she is your Mom and memories are attached. I love the way you always say make it comfortable for your home. Can't wait for the next video for me and my 4yr old to watch. Thank you!!

My sister and I found your channel separately. She's in Colorado, I'm in Brooklyn. We both love it! I think your appeal is your youthful take on traditional foods, your recipe choices and the way you film the whole cooking process. Your relationship with your sister as cameraman is such a marketable, cool little plus and how you pull in your family but in a modern way. It's more honest than what you might see on a corporate sponsored show. It's really refreshing. Way to be amazing!

The reason your butter pops is that the milk solids in the butter contain moisture(water), and as the fat renders (melts) from the milk solids, the water starts to evaporate. Water and oil don't mix, correct? So, the water turns to steam, and that "pop" you hear is water exploding because of evaporation. That's why alot of recipies call for clarified butter. All of the browned bits that are removed from butter are the milk solids turning that yummy brown, tasty, flavored, butter or that are burning because your pan may be too hot and milk solids in butter will scorch easily.

Just revisited this video on camarones al mojo de ajo and wanted to thank you for such a delicious and easy dish. Also being Mexican- american I wanted to comment that I love your acknowledgement of your indigenous roots. Because we have indigenous DNA we have the Asian DNA markers that go back to the Asians who crossed the Bering Straight land bridge (before the sea enveloped it) into Alaska. That means our ancestors have been here on the North American and South American Continents for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. So we are living and prospering on the land of our indigenous ancestors. We are not newcomers to these lands so telling us to go back where we came from is rather silly and ignorant. Eva Longoria and YO YO Ma (Chinese American cellist) have many of the same Asian DNA markers which was discovered on PBS Finding Your Roots. Love love love your videos and you and your sis and your family. Keep expressing your pride in your indigenous heritage as it has a positive influence on our young people.

Okay! you've convinced me to comment! I'm an old blue eye from Nuevo de Calefornia. I love your channel. It feels like someone invites me to their house to learn to cook. (I've always hoped someone would invite me over to make tamales, although it seems it's just the ladies that get together for that) 40 or so years ago, I was in Baja surfing with my buddy, and one night we walked through an agricultural area to a tiny restaurant. We had something that seemed similar to this dish ( Camarones al mojo de ajo) They called it something like "Camarones diablo" though it wasn't at all spicy. But it had whole garlic cloves. I counted 20 on my plate! But, they were quite mild. I was amazed that the garlic was not at all overpowering, and the shrimp were buttery and delicious. Great memories! Thank you for taking me back(in time).
