Careful with this milk slice recipe: You might want to make it again and again and again and your kids will beg you for a slice! My kids i.e. are totally addicted and I actually love this, too! Milk Slice can only be bought in Germany. It is kept in the fridge and enjoyed cool as a snack. This recipe resembles the original German "Milchschnitte" quite well. I hope you bake this!

A stabilizing trick I learned was about 1 teaspoon of instant vanilla pudding mix to the cream.

If you use confectioners sugar instead of the granulated kind, you'll get the same effect.

GREAT, thanks! I was just researching what to use to substitute. I had found that you should add some confectioner's sugar and corn starch. But I like the pudding idea. Will try that next time.

i live in texas , and i miss milchschnitte and germany too. You can also get those ingredients, especially sahnesteig at HALAL groceries too.(Like turkish stores, etc..) danke für das rezept. ❤️

My son called them "kiminis" when he was a toddler, and that's the term we've been using ever since. I've moved to the US, since, and yeah I miss my kiminis! As well as Mohrenkoepfe.

What did your children think? I'm sure they loved it. Your pronunciation of marscapone was spot on. One of my favorite cheeses, so buttery. Did you use whole milk?

They loved it and thought it came very close to the original. I had to bake it some more times because they couldn't get enough of it. Mascarpone is really delicious, especially in Tiramisu! :-)

Ach du lieber Gott, this is my favorite desert and they don't have them in America. Every time I go visit my family in Germany, the first stop is always the grocery store and eat an entire box of these beauties. No offense America, I love you but you don't know good food. Growing up in Germany and living with a pastry chef/Bakery store owner and a butcher store owner(Oma, Opa, Mutter und Vater), I got really spoiled. To the woman that runs this channel, you are wonderful, like you, I am the cook and baker in this house and you do am amazing job, your husband is one lucky you know what. Oh yeah, I just discovered your channel and I love it.

We live in the suburbs of Nashville, Tennessee. PS: My husband guessed you were from either Hamburg or Hannover based on your accent. Best to you and your family from your newest subscriber! I always want to find recipes that remind him of home. But I have fierce competition. His mother is a retired chef, his brother is a chef, and our only nephew is a chef.

K L Yes, luckily I‘m not from Hannover, that place is super boring 😆. I haven‘t been to Nashville, yet, but I will probably go there with my daughter next spring. There is a weekend seminar for singers that my daughter‘s vocal coach highly recommends.
