How to Make Miniature Backpack for Action Figures & Other Toys, DIY Backpack 1:12 Scale & 1:18 Scale
Today we’re going to be making miniature backpacks in two different scales for various toy lines. The first option is 1:12 scale for 6 inch toys and action figures such as Marvel Legends figures. The second option is 1:18 scale for 3.75 inch action figures and toys such as My Little Pony, Calico Critters, Sylvanian Families, and Li’l Woodzeez.
The measurements for both toy scales are available at these points in the video:
1/12 Scale Backpack Measurements: 0:53
1/18 Scale Backpack Measurements: 0:58
The materials I’ll be using to make this #diy toy project are:
-Fabric (I’m using a cotton material. 1/8th of a yard will be plenty)
-Needle
-Thread
-Ribbon (for the straps, I’m using 3 mm wide ribbon)
-Fabric Marking Pencil: amzn.to/2oNKXLd (Amazon affiliate link)

-4 Jump Rings, I’m using 4mm Jump Rings similar to these: amzn.to/2vWVwy2 (Amazon affiliate link)
-Pliers to open the Jump Rings

Nightcrawler deserves a new figure for sure. It feels like Hasbro is really spacing out the more popular mutant characters though, and only getting 1 X-Men wave a year doesn't help either.

Can this pattern be scaled up into 1/6 scale? I absolutely loved this tutorial but almost everything I own is in 1/6! I would love to see a duffle bag tutorial if you ever create one!

Sure, you can make this in 1/6 scale. You just need to double all my 1/12 scale measurements and it should work. 🙂 Also, thank you for the suggestion of a duffle bag tutorial!

Always great to see a new video from you! I love seeing what your awesomely creative self has come up with! :D Great job! :D Oh and I'd still love to see another toy hunt video if you ever feel like making it, even if it's for older waves that are just getting to your area. It's still interesting and cool to see what's out there, IMO. (And it doesn't make me feel like such an oddball for being excited on the occasions when I find an old wave FINALLY in stores, lol! ;) At least I know I'm not alone! ;) )

Thanks you! And your display picture of the Stormtrooper rocking out on the drums always makes me smile. Glad to hear you wouldn't mind seeing the old toy waves in a Toy Hunt! I've had to buy a lot of new stuff, like Ares and the A-Force set online lately because I just can't find anything new in stores. I did see the new Netflix wave recently, but they were all in someone's cart already. That could have been an interesting video..."There's the new Netflix wave! And there they gooooo!" xD

Could you possibly show how to make some Marvel Universe (3.75) figure magic/powers? I bought a hot glue gun but can't seem to put together how to actually do it

Is there any particular type of effect you'd like to see for them? Mostly though, the technique will be the same as for the 6 inch figures effects, but it is a bit harder to make it smaller because the glue remains the same thickness. I remember that someone shrunk down the Doctor Strange time magic effect for Marvel Universe and it looked really nice. If you're interested, I can do some more digging to find out which video I showed their Doctor Strange effect on to give you some ideas. It seems like someone also used the firewall effect for Marvel Universe and it worked well too on the smaller scale.

Apologies for a new comment but for some reason, every time I reply to your reply, it appears as a reply somewhere else! :S **X-Files theme intensifies** ;) Anyway, what I was trying to say was (via the magic of copy/paste/delete/mumble curses under breath ;) )... Aw, so glad that George (yeah, his name is George, like why not, right? ;) ) and his awesome drum skills can give a smile! ;) Oh man, I can just picture that video as you're follow this person through the store: "And could you turn Jessica Jones around a little in your cart so we can see her paint apps, please? The Internet really wants to see how well her eyes are aligned!" :D Not awkward at all or anything, lol! ;) Seriously, though, that's one reason why I pretty much resolved myself to having to get figures online. I always loved the thrill of finding That Awesome Figure You Really Want on the pegs but it just was never happening anymore! I missed a couple of figures I wanted at MSRP because I wanted to wait and find them in stores rather than nab them online when I had the chance and then I never could find them and the price went up online. :S Very frustrating! I'm still chuckling over "And there they goooooo!" so thanks for that! ;) PS - And weirdly, my reply just appeared some place that I didn't expect it to as an answer to a different comment. haha, KZfaq does weird stuff like that to me sometimes too. I find if I yell at it enough, it starts cooperating. Sometimes... xD I probably creeped out the poor guy with the Netflix wave enough without even recording anything. I circled back around a couple of times to see if he would put any of them back. He spent quite a while looking at them all and them searching them up on his phone. The trip wasn't a total bust though as I ended up picking up the White Power Ranger.

I'm not sure if I'll have time to make a Daredevil effect anytime soon, but I can explain how you can make one. It would be very similar to my Spider Sense effect video, but instead of painting the squiggly lines, you'd just paint a series of circles within each other, making them smaller as they go towards the middle. Hope that helps!

Well, I had to create patterns in 2 different scales. Then test the patterns repeatedly and made adjustments until they worked properly. Then once I was happy with the patterns, I made the backpacks 3 more times to get the hang of them, and so I can better explain the process. So quite bit more work than usual before I could even begin recording anything.
