HOW TO MAKE NAUTILI WITH SINAMAY | Millinery Technique | DIY Sinamay Nautilus | Didsbury Art Studio
A Subscriber left me a comment asking if Sinamay would work to make a Nautilus shell design....so I thought well lets have a go! I've used around 1 metre in length of Sinamay and the width was 1 and a half inches. Enjoy my experimentation! 😁 Thanks everyone for watching and I'll see you next week.
What do you work as?
After doing my Textiles degree I did my PGCE training in London to become an Art and Design Secondary School Teacher. Currently, I work in a hospital teaching Art part-time to 16-18 year olds. In addition, also teach art in my studio on Saturdays and I offer textile workshops to schools. I set up this channel in April 2020 after being furloughed during Lockdown but soon realised I really enjoyed designing, creating projects, filming and editing videos.

Велика подяка за це чудове відео. Як ви вважаєте, чи можна зробити такого наутілуса із шовку, атласу чи шифону і використати в якості брошки на одязі.? Чи буде можливим зібрати цю конструкцію з шовкової тканини?

Little tricky, but its a nice effect. The texture is great, maybe along with taupe and light greens and straw colors. Could go nice on a beachside weave. Thanks Sally. :)

I love how stiff this fabric is! I want to ask a btw question. Do you have ideas on how to permanently stiffen regular fabrics to make them like this or paper?

If you thin down PVA glue and paint it on fabric it'll stiffen....fusible interfacing can be ironed onto the back of fabric to stiffen it as well. 🫶

@@didsburyartstudio thank you! I tried interface and it’s not stiff enough. Does the pva glue stay on even after washing?
