How To Make Oat Bread - Oat Vanilla Bread Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup rolled oats
1 1/3 cups boiling water or milk
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 teaspoons yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups freshly milled flour: hard red, hard white, spelt, kamut, or Einkorn
Directions
In a large bowl combine water (milk), oats, maple syrup, and butter.
Mix and let cool slightly.
Add flour yeast, salt, yeast and vanilla. Mix until dough forms. Knead the dough for 7-8 minutes.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
Gently deflate the dough, shape it into a log. Place the log ino a lightly greased 9 x 5 loaf pan. Make 1 inch slits into the dough and then goat with water, milk or egg white. This will help adhere the oats sprinkled on top.
Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until it has crowned 1 inch above the pan.
Preheat over to 350 F.
Bake for 40-45 minutes. Bake until the interior of the bread reaches 190’.
Take out of oven and let sit for 10 minutes before slicing.
Slice and enjoy hot and yummy!

Hi Annette, I have been enjoying all your videos and I would love to ask if you can make a video about the different flour we should use. In here you mention, spelt, kamut, hard red (is it wheat?). How can I identify them in the store or where do you recommend me to buy them. I want to make the sandwich bread for my family since it is the only fast and available food I get in my house. I really appreciate it! If you already have a video, let me have the link please.

❤ thanks so much for this very insightful video... And I'd like to share an encouraging message with you. Can you imagine mankind never suffering with hunger anymore? Well, in Isaiah 65: 21, 22 says "They will build houses and live in them, And they will plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. They will not build for someone else to inhabit, Nor will they plant for others to eat. For the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, And the work of their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full."

Hi Annette. Thank you so much for this video in the recipe. I love oats. And I do make oat bread. And I’m going to substitute the Spelt flour with either Sorghum, Millet, Oat, Buckwheat, Quinoa Flours. But, my question for you is, do we have to use yeast, and if so are there any substitutions. And do we have to use butter. Can we have a substitution for butter? And also as I’m watching the video, can this bread be made without salt or again, is there a substitution.? Thank you so much for your channel and being biblically grounded. I enjoy so much hearing how to eat and take care of ourselves God‘s way.

I made this bread the other day. It rose beautifully, baked thoroughly, and came out of the oven looking like it belonged in a food magazine spread. Then I tasted it. It was terrible. There was no sweetness to it, no hint of vanilla at all, or even the slightest suggestion of oats. In fact, it tasted just like cardboard-the worst tasting bread I have ever tried. It must somehow be my fault, though for the life of me I have no idea what went wrong. Because I can't isolate the problem, I will not, unfortunately, try this recipe again.
