Hi Kimono Mom! I just wanted to take a few seconds to say thank you. I suffer from pretty intense depression, which has made it hard all my life to take care of myself and therefore what I eat. My life changed a few weeks ago when I found myself on one of your "Shorts". I've always had an interest in cooking, I've got dozens of books, beautiful instruments, but I had trouble getting organized in my head, it's hard to explain. But after watching your videos, after seeing how accessible, simple (but not too simple) and inviting it is, to see the flavours, the richness of your country (I'm Franco-Canadian), the different aromas, the trial and error in my cooking: I'm so grateful to you for sharing with an open heart, the love, the art, the simplicity, the charisma of a busy life, it lets me see that there's love everywhere. It's been a long time since I've been so touched by a family, you're inspiring, really, and I can't wait for your products to arrive in Canada. Until then, I'll be a loyal subscriber. Thank you so much for this video and for all your hard work. Your daughter is beautiful. You have so much to be proud of in what you're building. Bonne journée! x

My Mum uses leftover rice the next day for other recipes. She mix the rice with meat and onion to fill bell peppers. I use it the next day to make fried rice - during my holiday in Tokyo a chef told me never to use fresh rice if I want to fry it. I'd love to learn how to bake bread. Germany has lots of different types of bread but none of them are as fluffy as the ones I ate in Japan 🙏

Hi, my daughter and I stumbled on your video as I was browsing for Onigiri Recipe. I love how simple your life is. I have always been fascinated by the Japanese culture. I am teacher and last year we had Japan as our choice of country for International day at school. I was in Japan last year, transited for 8 hours but I was sick, didnt get to explore much. But I amazed on how the Japanese people are super helpful and polite. We wish to go back this time and spend more time in Japan and explore more of their cuisine. I love your kimono and hopeful i would get my hands on it one day, I heard they are expensive. Is that an apron? I loved it!. Look forward to hear from you soon.

That looks like a great way to use leftover rice, and it seems like the vegan version might be a bit more malleable if you wanted to form your omurice into different shapes (like a flower). Also, anything that gets a young child to eat is a good thing. It reminds me of how my nephew (6) reacts to sushi. Total focus until it's finished.
