How To Make Perfect Congee Recipe | Rice Porridge

Congee, or jook as it is also known, is a comforting rice porridge enjoyed throughout Asia. It’s warm and nourishing making it the perfect dish for cold days. Although somewhat plain in its most basic form, congee can be made with a variety of ingredients to make something truly unique and delicious.

INGREDIENTS:
Congee
1 cup Jasmine rice
8 cups water
1 small ginger, julienned
2 pieces green onion, chopped
Chicken Marinade
1 pound chicken, chopped
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
Garnish
Green onion
Cilantro
Boiled egg

When you boil the chicken pieces don't they get some foam foring at the top? Do you remove it at some point or it's not formed at all in here?

It is important to remove this foam as it can cause off flavors in your cooked chicken because it contains an excess amount of proteins that will affect its taste and flavor. In this particular video, the foam did not form at all. Maybe because I used high-quality ingredients such as fresh organic chicken for optimal results. The quality of ingredients will influence how much, if any, foam forms during boiling. I hope this helps...
