Awesome! I think I just figured out where I had been going wrong with my French knots. I had thought you were supposed to go back down through the same hole and not a little away from it. Hopefully I won't be ruining any more embroidery floss by tangling and knotting it all up!

The thing that made the biggest difference with French knots and evry stitch, was getting a better hoop that held my fabric drum tight. That made all the difference. I’d bought a beginner kit that came with evrything you needed including a series of printed designs for you to learn different stitches. But I struggled so much, even needing plairs to pull my thread through. I bought new needles and thought the fabric was to stiff, then I hit up r/embroidery and was recommended the Morgan hoop, & omg the difference. If you’ve got a bamboo hoop I totally recommend upgrading your hoop. It’s worth the $20+ you’ll spend. I was able to finish all my practice designs & now have moved on to transferring a basic design to some muslin I bought & now my only issues is perfecting things like the satin stitch. My oldest niece is marrying their girlfriend in September & I’m determined to get good enough I can make them a design in the lesb¡an colors. I also want to make my youngest niece a piece that says slay bc she’s obsessed with saying it. So I’ve been practicing all day evry day. Unfortunately I have hyper mobile thumbs so I have to invest in thumb braces.

@@EmbroideryArtbyNat hoop stand is in my Amazon cart now, lol. Just trying to figure which one will work the best for me, but I think it’ll make a big difference. I want a bendy adjustable one so I can save my neck, but haven’t seen any with good reviews. I also keep finding new things I need so I’m trying not to spend too much much $ on the hoop, but it’s prob something I just need to invest in

@@EmbroideryArtbyNat I just had the first one that came up as a reminder to buy one, but was planning to research more. I’m indecisive on the best day & always worry about buying the right product so I appreciate the recs. I’d found one that looked a lot like those cell phone holders but was worried bc the reviews were all over the place. I really like the way it could adjust in different directions bc it was bendy, but again I couldn’t find one like that that had solid reviews. I really appreciate the rec bc I kept finding recs that were affiliate links, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I also acknowledge the incentives can be skewed. It’s so funny I started embroidery thinking it was inexpensive but I keep spending $. Like I just did a big order from DMC, but I just can’t work with the cheaper floss anymore bc it’s way to frustrating & doesn’t look as good

That's nice to hear! 👍 And seriously - no rush! When you pull the thread too fast it causes a high risk of getting unwanted knots. Unfortunately if you mess up with french knots there is no other way other than cut it out.
