How to Make Pretty Gelli Art Prints for Cards

6 ай бұрынWelcome to Week 4 of my weekly crafty series. Today I'm playing with the Gelli-plate making layered, colorful prints for 5" x 7" cards. Follow along as I experiment and test out colors, and use die-cut pieces for a unique background effect.

I love playing with the Gelli plates. Thank you Annette, I’m going to pull them out again and be creative! Using the metallic paints gives them such a dramatic effect. I must look for the corner spacer or order it from your link, I love it!

First time using a gelli plate a few months ago and you reminded me to get back to it. So much fun especially since I have so many Elizabeth Craft dies to use. Thanks for the great idea. Your prints are great! I got started when a friend introduced me to Elizabeth St. Hilaire, an artist who uses gelli prints for paper collage. I hope you'll check her out on KZfaq. She's also a fantastic artist and I predict you will love her prints.

I love gelli printing and it’s so so addicting! Now you’ve got me wanting to do some prints and I love the idea of using the flower and fern die cuts for the designs and those scrolls too. A while back I did some prints using alcohol ink and the lift reinker with stencils and that’s pretty cool because they’re transparent since no paint is used. I love the gelli plate and thanks for these cool ideas of using the ECD die cuts and stencils. Love your prints!

Did someone already say that you CAN pull off the yummy outlines that dry… that you keep cleaning off, saying it dried and you won’t be able to get that up? You just put down another layer of paint (a heavy body paint is often best), put your paper on immediately and press and smooth. THEN let it dry before pulling. Everything will come up, leaving a clean plate and all the cool bits on your print. Great video, loved all your experiments and results, thanks!

Now I know I can get a really great print after the paint has dried on the plate. An ongoing learning process for me. Thanks again!

Thanks so much Jane. I really think it's the light to dark thing that really helps make the prints most successful. I used to just slap paint down and go, but now I know how the layers work best. I hope you DO give it another go. Enjoy!

Okay, I have got to know where you got your frame that helps position your prints for a perfect border. It is wonderful and so helpful when doing multi layer prints! It must be more shallow than the gelli plate (at least the side closest to the plate). I loved this video! Thanks for your help! 😊

Yes, the link I supplied includes another gelli plate. I'm not sure if the frame is sold separately. Sounds like that's all you need since you have several plates already. @@bethbenson1931

Thanks Bettie. I would probably use some of the prints I wasn't as fond of for the inside, and add a white layer over it, just a bit smaller. That way, you have the same "feel" of the art, but mostly just a touch. Leaving more room for your message.
