This will drain battery in stand-by because mt3608 will consume energy on stand by. You need to add a switch between battery and booster mt3608. I have done this like you and battery was empty after one month not used.

Yes. And the capacity of an alkaline 9v battery is around 500-600 ma/h and here you used a 100 ma/h or less lithium battery.
