Not sure how I missed this one when you posted it but I love this idea. I do mixed media work as well and I like the imperfect stamping. I have tons of polymer clay but now the flexible clay is on the wish list! Thanks for a GREAT idea.

Nicely demonstrated video showing how to make rubber stamps using bake and bend clay. Keep up with the good work.

Hundreds, wow! You know, another neat trick is to heat up a foam bath block (dollar store) with a heat gun and press it on an embossing folder, that makes a great stamp too. I have a video on that, look back to July 2011 for that video:)

you can get a pack of bake and bend clay )made by polyform/sculpey) at most craft stores and online. I saw it the other day at Hobby Lobby. You really need the bake and bend for it to work properly. You can use a coupon at the big craft stores too!

Great idea! I like this technique much better than carving stamps, which is time consuming and doesn't necessarily leave a clean surface like this does.

clean as usual:) Simple green and water works great! My stamps were stained with staz-on ink that is why mine were "dirty"

yes I can, you press something textured (string, leaves, fabric, a texture plate) into a rolled out sheet of bake and bend clay, remove the items and bake, then you have a flexible sheet you can use as an unmounted stamp. Just stick it to an acrylic block with double stick tape and stamp away!

so glad you made this video - wish we had that clay here in South Africa - or maybe we do and I just havent seen it - I am going to try with crazy clay though - which is air-dry clay that dries quite rubbery.

would roll the clay on top of a piece of kitchen foil and bake it direct on the foil as well to avoid the uncured/unbaked clay from being distorted as you pull it out the cutting mat. Than once clay has baked and cooled off simply peel off the foil and mount. Thanks for the videos, I love your ideas!

How do you make red rubber stamp from green colored clay? Or is there a red clay? Do you bake this clay same way as package directions say for clay projects or how do you finish these after you mold them? I know im asking things that maybe already were told but i am new to bendible clay. Our town has bits of craft stuff in our walmart but thats it. We di have dollar stores but ive never seen bendable clay anywhere. Thanks for your help

Hi, I've used Sculpey's Super Elasticlay Moldmaker before to make molds but pretty soon the molds go hard and inflexible so you can NOT make any more objects with them. I wouldn't want that to happen with this stuff, so has it been tested for permanence, for instance how long ago did you make that nice pattern stamp with this stuff? and is it just as flexible as when you first made it?

I return to these "mouldy oldies" as you say, time and time again. I wonder if a throwback Thursday or Mouldy oldie Monday would be an avenue to show new people (and some of us "lifers" lol) some excellent and fun techniques. You could just link one on the blog rather than post a whole new video. I find a wealth of information and interest in these videos. Although revisiting them in a new video could also be interesting to see just how your techniques, ideas and execution have changed as you have changed as an artisan.

regular clay will not bend and squish at all so the impression will not be great. I have a video on making stamps with foam bath blocks, you can try that if you can't find the bake and bend:)

A blast from the past! Did you ever try using the air dry clay? Hmmmm they sell it at the dollar tree 🌳.

I didn't know this stuff even existed. I want to get some rubbing plates to make some fabric, that will be great for this...maybe that is what your blue plates are. I want big non specific flowers/geometric forms. So far I have not found anything I like, but I believe it's out there. I may end up making my own stamps. Square, circles, triangles, swirls may be easier to do with foam. The flower design needs to be big and I just don't know how well a full sheet of foam will work, to get the ink on and full image down. Guess I will have to dive in and try.

I love the idea of creating my very own rubber stamps with something like this 🥰- I just wonder if something like kneadable 2 component silicone putty would work as well 🤔 I just can't seem to get my hand is on any of that particular sculpey around here 😅

Im confused as I thought it was going to show me how to make rubber stamps with clay but I dont see how this clay turned into the red rubber stamp! Can you explain please? Thanks

I use stamps to stamp solder. Usually I use red rubber stamps and they don’t stick to the solder. Do you think making a stamp with polymer clay will work?

have u used a baby wipes warmer it works well conditioning it and using pasta roller!!!

you said cling cushion, what is that please? And after you clean a rubber stamp is there any way to re-condition it, to keep it pliable? I had some really nasty, dirty stamps given to me and I used the simple green and some glycerin to clean them but I had to scrub them a lot and I'm afraid I might have dried them out a little. This is a question that is not really about this video: Can I use craft foam to a make a stamp? Like use a point tool to draw on it and make pattern instead,because here it doesnt really sell these items and clay And if they sell it,They sell it expensive Hope someone could reply :)
