It was too late to order silk flowers for this costume in time for my (okay yes, self imposed sure) deadline, so I decided to dive into a wild idea: what if I just made some myself? Thus with some scraps of the silk taffeta, some tools from the kitchen, and not enough sleep honestly, these silk roses were created into being!
The floristry wire and tape from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Paxcoo-Floral-...
Tweezers: www.amazon.com/Scientific-Lab...
The PVA glue I had on hand that worked fine: www.talasonline.com/Jade-403
I purchased the silk taffeta from Silk Baron: www.silkbaron.com/
Silently watch me make these two roses in real time: • Silk Flowers In Real Time
Music and Sound Effects from Epidemic Sound.
Where I get my pattern drafting paper: atlaslevy.com/Paper_c_13.html (not sponsored)

But wait there's more! A PO BOX finally wahoo!
First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

Back at school during a couple of home economics lessons we used a similar technique - heated household items to shape petals) Our teacher poured some sand in a pan and we heated spoons in it. Btw, for all the impatient people that say you talk slowly, well, they can just use this nifty feature increasing the speed of the video. Won't lie, I use it myself from time to time) One's impatience is no excuse to be rude to a creator who likely poured hours of effort into making a video 😑

I say "no" to buying fancy flower tools. Why waste your money when you (1) have things that work and (2) could get more things (i.e., ice cream scoop, large rounded serving spoon) at a thrift store, Dollar Tree, or grocery store? The money you save can go toward more silk! Plus, small pillows can easily be sewn from scraps and then stuffed with scraps, such as the bits from cutting out flower petals. The flowers you made and formed into a corsage are beautiful. I like your hat, speech pattern, and voice too!

Great commenting, and a nice voice indeed. English is not my first language, but I've got no challenges to understand you what so ever. My first thought as it comes to the internet trolls is that I feel pity with those having so little to do with their lives. They somehow feel a desire to not appreciate other peoples good work, but rather try to bring it down. What a horrid experience they are turning their lives into - and with apparently no good reason what so ever! I truly enjoy your videos and I'm learning a lot as I'm having a great time watching! I vote for the .pdf how-to guide another viewer asked for. I also saw the Bernadette Banner flower video and was possessed by a desire to try making them. Can you also share links to the KZfaq video tutorials that you found most helpful? Finally: your voice is everything other viewers say it is - informative, calming, but I also really appreciate your precision of speech. Accurate, to the point, no mindless rambling and especially no mumbling! Perhaps you are editing out the complainers from your comment section, but I’m reading through all of the comments most of the time and your followers also seem to be a thoughtful and interesting bunch with valuable things to say. A quality channel all around.

Before I had an egg iron, I used a melon baller and ice cream scoop. And thin nose pliers (which I still use). That's actually what my millinery teacher told us to use if we didn't have tools. One tip - if you can heat the tool over something electrical - a hot plate, or have it touching an iron for a while - it's better. Using an open flame can cause blackening of the tools, which can then transfer to the fabric. Can be a problem if you're using a lighter coloured fabric, so it's worth remembering.

The comment “out and about” , reminds me of the time I saw The Blues Brothers at a local pizza parlor about ten years ago. It was lunch and the parlor was busy when a decommissioned police car rolled up, parked in a conspicuous place and the boys rolled out complete with little hats, black suites and narrow black ties. Now my logical mind reminded me Baloshie (r his spelling could be wrong, but you know the guy I’m referring to here) was dead. Nonetheless, here he sat, calmly eating pizza in a small southern town. It was a hoot! I hope you and your Viewers have as much fun when you venture forth in one of your wonderful vintage outfits. I hope you have a friend to go with you !

Ignore the haters, if they don't like it they don't have to watch. Your voice is lovely, soothing and your dry humor is hilarious, and it helps me get through a long day of work listening to a nice technical eloquent series of instructions😁 and you're incredibly talented, and I think those go hand-in-hand. I used to hate my voice until a few of the older customers at my work came in and remarked on how beautiful my voice was and how it had an old-timey quality to it they found so refreshing, and then I realized I wasn't out of place, I was a true classic, and so are you

If I end up trying this I might get two sets of tweezers/melon ballers- that way one can always be heating while the other one's in use :) Your roses look amazing; what a beautiful way to repurpose cabbage! Thanks for the inspiration and taking the time to share it with us and for the record, I think your voice is *lovely*- I play your videos in the background while I'm working/sewing all the time!

I find it so refreshing to listen to someone who's speech isn't peppered with "ums" and "ya knows," never mind the rising inflections on the end of every other word making everything sound like a question. As far as purchasing the flower making tools... do it.

I actually rush to watch your content because it is always interesting, explanations are top drawer and is always so lovely. To me your voice is soothing after a day at work. I too, speak quite fast but my voice, while "born and raised in the South", Southern, is not nearly as pleasant as yours. Whoever says you speak too fast is obviously not listening carefully enough or computer literate enough to slow it down. As a licensed teacher, who is also partially deaf, your pedagogy is as flawless as your delivery. That and a gorgeous green cicada, Gothic Victorian bustle ball gown is delicious beyond words.

I’d love to see more flowersnd how different fabrics would react to being made a flower (some ones with organza and opque petals would look really cool), the differences between this method and professional tools, how big of a flower you could make, and your voice is absolutly lovely and I go really fast too so it isn’t at all bad

You could use a set of stainless steel measuring spoons! Keep the teaspoon on the heat while you use the tablespoon and vice-versa. Some sets even come with 2 tsp, half tablespoon, and 2 tablespoon measures (aka a coffee scoop), so if those are useful in you cooking life, you'd have a nice big set of irons to work with.

Bianca, your voice is just fine. I find it intoxicating and quite soothing. So, to reiterate what many are saying here, do not change, because you are not going to please everybody. That is just how it is. Now, onto these beautiful flowers. As always you do an amazing job and you did just that here. In fact, I am going to use this technique in a project I am currently working on and will post soon. So, thank you for that! In the meantime, keep being you and creating amazing vintage and retro pieces.

Your use of the melon-baller is brilliant! I think the barrier to a lot of niche crafts is the specialized tools that are allegedly required to do them. While “proper” tools can be really helpful and may be needed for super complex projects, it’s amazing what can be done with just a few household items! Also, that SILK! That color is just stunning, I’m going to miss it now that this series is done.

I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with how you talk. Kinda reminds me of how I talk except you don't forget about what you're talking about as much as I do ^.^' I very much appreciate the how-to with these roses. I'm always looking for some kind of crafts that are very hands on and require using your fingers in an effort to keep the use of my hands and fingers as long as possible. Just discovered you literally last night with your beetle bling jacket and I'm already subscribed and hooked.

People are being mean about the lovely content you make for us?! I sometimes put your videos on in the background when I'm having a bad pain/fatigue day because your voice is a bit like my older sister's (she went to elementary school in Washington State before we moved back to Australia). Your explanations are so clear I never have trouble following what you're doing, even with my eyes closed or when my vision goes super blurry. Your voice is very calming and the cadence of your speech is very pleasant because it's interesting and so you! I've learned so much from all your videos and my sewing and craft projects are the better for it. That melon baller trick for flower making is brilliant! I bet a set of rounded baking measuring spoons and cups would work really well, too, or even a ladle! The blackness on the tweezers is probably the carbon from the wick burning, should buff out if you ever want it shiny again. You could also make stamens for the flower centre with the floral wire and nail polish and maybe a bead by building up the layers of polish.

First off - I love your voice and enjoy the way you speak 💚 I have a request... I know how much work it would take... but if you could, please, make a PDF file of instructions? I do not need illustrations, just the instructions. I have ALL the "tools" you used (okay, an order to Amazon for the wire, tape, and pin backs is not a problem). But could you include a list of the "professional" tools also? Please, no pressure, I have absolutely no problem watching your videos over and over again 😊 (by the way - I am willing to pay for it)
