This could conceivably be used to “weld” conducting strips to rechargeable batteries in order to wire up custom cells. Otherwise, you could build a cell spot welder from a used microwave transformer.

As it is in this case, -2 points since you CAN silver solder with a soldering iron (going by the definition of what silver soldering is). I think what you meant was "you can't solder silver with a soldering iron". If so, you would have been correct as you need higher temps achievable by torch.

I don't think you can weld two different metals together like this, plus magnesium is flammable so you might ignite it.

You actually have a carbon arc which is used to remove or gouge out carbon steel. Normally includes compressed air directed at the metal.

So basically you made a electrode. I used to gap weld for military contractor. 750 voltage for silver and gold ribbons for electronic parts, gold , silver plated substrates. Gap weld machines made in Japan.
