How To Make Single Ply & Double Ply Plastic Yarn From Bags

2-minute tutorials. They are quick simple videos meant to teach a technique or craft in about two minutes. They are fast and fun and best of all there is no talking. :-) But fear not I will still be making my long-form videos as well.
In today's video, I will show you two different ways to make plastic yarn known as plarn. There are lots of things you can make with plarn at the end of this video I will show you some of the things I have made. Keep some plarn on hand to be ready for your next craft projects.

I find that the end product made from plarn has a limited life span. That is I made a bowl with some of my plarn(and other items) The bowl was stored away from light and was used for about 8 years. Then I notice that it was coming apart into flakes of plastic. Tiny flakes and had no integrity and could not be repaired. A friend of mine had similar results from her plarn and it lasted only a few years. I won't use my time to make something that could become microplastic. I take film plastic to the grocery store collection bin. I know that it gets down-cycled but at least it would be less likely to eventually find it's way to the ocean

I watched someone crochet plarn into table mats and heat them in the oven for 3 minutes on baking paper. No flaking later.

I have these od LP disks. How can I recycle them and make some thing pretty 😍 🤔? Perhaps, jewelry 🤔? I love your channel by the way?

Hi Parisa, I have never made anything from record albums before but I have seen a few different ways to upcycle them. I actually bought a pair of earrings that were lazer cut from old LP albums. Thanks for watching.

A young woman in one of my graphic design classes would put vinyl records over a metal bowl or something and put them in the oven (low temp, I'm sure) to turn them into bowls. I was abhorred by the desecration, but if you have some that are no longer playable it's something you can do with them. Or if they are unplayable but a well-known artist maybe frame them as a wall hanging.
