I have been doing soft chapatis but with warm water. Layers could come out but not as perfect as this! I'm happy for the tutorial. It is the best that I have ever encountered! Each day is a learning day! A challenge I had was that I was burnt with the hot water and the hot oil. However, The pain was worth the achievement! that is my testimony.... Please help me now do a cake. My request.

Learnt a new way of folding the dough into chapati's thank you.

I like your recipe. I tried to make it with Miller wholewheat flour. But the dough as too soft. I put too much hot water. I also use a hand help dough mixer to knead the flour. I will try it again. I am trying to judge how much hot oil you put. Do not worry about the criticism from others. I am in North America. You can call it chapati. Who ever wants they can call it roti or paratha or whatever. That is your name for it and it is ok. I have looked at many recipes and this seems to be the best. When you write your new recipe. You can also put the whole wheat flour or whatever flour and stipulate Kenya, Africa, Europe and USA and Canada. These Countries all have different kinds of whole wheat flour. Best of Luck

The only difference from my recipe here is the waiting time(20min) and use of hot oil....wanna try this next time to see if I'll get the layers..... softness I'm used to....thanks for sharing

OMG so HOT WATER and Oil are the secret ingredient! I haven using warm water and my chapati always turn out to be something else. I never make chapatis in 20yrs. I will try your method. And let you know what happened
