Hiya :)
Today I made this classic sprinkle cake! A true retro recipe which takes me straight back to my school dinner days :) I’ve sliced this one through the middle and added a layer of jam & buttercream, but that’s completely optional of course. Everything I used will be listed below…enjoy!

Very nice. I think we should all learn to home cook now. Times are difficult. Home made food is better, cheaper, and easy to learn.

This has taken me back to around 1987 sitting with my friends having lunch in the school hall. I remember one lunchtime me and my bestie having a full blown argument over who liked Michael Jackson more! We still laugh over that now aged 44. P.S. I still believe it was me! 😂😂

Love the recipe it takes me back to School dinners. Wee tip regarding the sugar. Buy normal granulated sugar at half the price of Caster Sugar and blitz it in a food processor for a few seconds and voila, caster sugar. Infact, keep blitzing it and you'll get icing sugar!

I baked this cake yesterday, but only put seedless raspberry jam in the middle. Only made half the amount of butter icing, which I put on the top, then sprinkled coconut flakes all over. My friends could not get enough! An absolute winner! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.

Hello from Texas! This looks like such a nice , simple cake. I know you're making this because of the memories of your school lunches, but I'd probably just leave it simple with the filling and instead of the icing, I'd just sprinkle powdered sugar on top =) this cake looks absolutely yummy

My friend’s birthday is coming up and we are always teasing her about how much she loves sprinkles. Im definitely going to make this for her! Also, here’s a tip if you mix your icing in standing mixer, put a kitchen towel over it after each addition of confectioner sugar. Keeps it from flying all over your kitchen.
