Love it, one of my favs. Yes, the celery salt does make a difference. Thanks Cheryl 😊

Making this on Sunday; got the Goldfish paste, will use boneless, skinless chicken thighs as I prefer dark meat and add in some mushrooms towards the end. I’m a recent convert to Chinese chicken curry and curry sauce on chips; can’t get enough of it!

Always saw this in Scottish cookbooks but had never heard of it at home. Then realized it was mum’s chicken soup. It was always our favorite, when I moved out and would visit she always had a huge batch to take home with me.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

Looks lovely. Could you use quark or fraimoge frais…….instead of the cream…..🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Thank you so much for showing us how to make your delicious Leek & potato soup... Mine is currently simmering on the hob :) I tweaked it slightly. I only had 1 Leek in the fridge, so chopped & rinsed it thoroughly, chopped a red onion & lots of garlic as I love it! I don't have celery salt, so chopped a stick of celery instead, peeled & chopped 5 potatoes, crumbled in a vegetable stock cube & covered with water, then added more ground black pepper! I'm going to add milk instead of cream too. Hopefully it will be as delicious & divine as it smells! :) 🥔 🌿 😋

Ooh, a use for celery salt besides Bloody Mary cocktails - great idea! Although, since it's now out of the pantry, seems a shame not to... ;)

Apologies for the ignorant question. Is “tea” the five o clock tea or is it your dinner and at what time do you normally have it? Or rather go people in scottland traditionally have it? Loved the recipe!

Excellent soup recipe, I’ve eaten similar for many years and it’s similar to how my late mother made this and similar soups. When I make similar ‘thick’ soups however I generally substitute courgette/zucchini for potato as the thickening agent as it is lower ‘carb’, this does require some adjustment to the liquid content of stock used, but is otherwise pretty similar. I’ve been following a lower carb diet for 20+ years, although I won’t deny I do indulge in traditional fare like fish’n’chips on occasion, everything in moderation 😉😋.
