I just bung butter, garlic, salt and pepper and whatever veg into the saucepan on a very low heat and let them steam. The juice they release is gravy for the rest of the meal (if there's a lot of watery juice I reduce it first).

Basically the same as you by steaming first then saute. ❤

I find them tasteless,so i usually grate in some apple or pineapple
