How To Make Tea Tree Soap | Learn To Make Your Own Tea Tree Soap At Home

If you love to make homemade soap from scratch and want to learn how to make tea tree soap, this DIY soap video is for you. We are using the natural cold process soap making method and have included the Tea Tree Soap recipe in the description for you below.
Tea tree essential oil is well known for its great antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic properties and is popular in soaps. Sometimes when you are making handmade soap at home you just want a few bar soaps rather than really large slabs, so we have done a half-sized batch that will make 5 to 6 bars and uses 500g oil oils. If you want to make a larger amount you can simply double the recipe to make up a full kilo batch.
TEA TREE SOAP RECIPE
150g Coconut oil
100g Olive oil
100g Sweet almond oil
100g Cocoa butter
50g Shea butter
71g Sodium hydroxide (lye)
150g Distilled water
10g Tea tree essential oil

They are mostly designed for a 500g batch of oils plus the lye and water so around 700g in total

Hi Sarah, that's a beautiful soap. I do love Tea Tree oil. Do you know if there is an official list/document that states all the usage rates for essential oils, here in the UK?

Welcome! Kaolin will make it whiter but not pure white :)

What other colours instead of mica would you recommend? (I am talking without it) like some kind of green or blue colour

I'm never sure how much mica to add plus my soaps are taking forever to harden, should I add sodium lactate? Thank you I'm a newbie and this is a great helpful video. Thank you.

Soap should not take long to harden if you have a good recipe. You might be using too much water or many palm free recipes are very soft. You can use just a small amount of mica for a soft or pastel colour or much more for a richer colour if needed. Start with a small amount and you can always add more

Hi Sarah, what is that special grater you are using in this video to remove the marks left due to air bubbles which give the final product a smooth finish called. if it's a special tool used for soapmaking I would like to source it and need the actual name. Many thanks.

Hey Christine, I just mix titanium dioxide pigment with olive oil to make a liquid colour that is ready to use.

Yes you can, you can use all or part of the water amount as a hydrosol

@@SoapSchoolUK Hi Sara once again.. so the ingredients is: 150g coconut oil, 100g olive oil, 100g almond oil, 100 cocoa butter, 50g shea butter, 71g lye, 150 des.water, 10g tea tree e.oil, spearmint mint mica and Titanium Dioxide (for the white colour)? What i can use to replace Cocoa Butter?Bee wax could be ok?

@@NadiaJoseph Sadly it isn't a straight swap. If you change an ingredient you need to run it through a sap calculator to work out the new amount of lye required to turn it into soap. you also need to see how changing that ingredient will affect the other elements of the soap. Beeswax is not a replacement and the soap will be brittle and way too hard

It is not overpowering but definitely scented

Thank you for making a small batch it's irritating when soapers make large batches showing beginners 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

You are so welcome Annette. Making large batches when you are just getting started and testing recipes and styles out gets expensive and often hold people back from making soap when they really want to. So I like to make small-sized batches and have lots of fun. I hope you enjoy it :D.
