quick tip for removing the shells: throw them in some water and massage them and the shells will float to the top and u can remove them with a strainer spoon quickly as 1,2,3 :)

I use cannellini beans instead of garbonza beans so I don't have that problem. Tastes just as good and the skins are soft so the don't need to be removed.

@@monamendiola1yes the skin of the chickpeas. The humus is too rough of a texture too gritty and dry if the skin is not removed

Some interesting flavor combos there. Beets and roasted carrots are two things I wouldn't have thought of to add to hummus. Thanks for the ideas.

OMG thank you so much for all these recipes. I am allergic to SESAME and I feel like nobody feels my struggle. I can't eat any type of Asian food or any cuisine that uses lots of sesame or sesame oil and people don't understand it limits me a lot. I always have to look at breads or other grain type products because manufacturers love to sneak sesame in to everything. So thank you so much 💜

You’re most welcome! I totally understand and feel so bad that you’re allergic to sesame. My boyfriend is unfortunately allergic too and I had to be really creative on how to make dishes without sesame, especially Asian recipes. Feel free to take a look at my Instagram as I have other recipes that are sesame free! Hopefully you enjoy these hummus recipes!

if you put the chick peas in a bowl of water and rub them the skins float to the top. Also baking soda helps break the skin off, put the baking soda in the water and let it sit while soaking if you're using the dry chickpeas (it comes out better than the cans)

Hi! Just wanted to know if these recipes are intended to be really salty? I'm not a big hummus eater, so idk what it's really supposed to taste like. I followed this recipe, and it came out really salty, so I'm wondering if you meant to say "teaspoons" instead of "tablespoons?" I had to keep adding more and more cans of chickpeas to my processor so that it wouldn't taste as strong.
@ClarissasKitchen
@ClarissasKitchen 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for trying out my recipe. I used chickpeas with no salt added, which is the reason I called for a tablespoon of salt. If your chickpeas come with salt, you can omit the salt and taste it first. If it needs more salt, you can start out with a pinch of salt.
@maria.99
@maria.99 3 жыл бұрын
@@ClarissasKitchen Ok, well that's what I'll do next time. I have no idea if the chickpeas I used already had salt in them, but now I know to always check. I had to throw out the whole batch I made because it was too salty, and I hate throwing out food! Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably just add the seasonings in the amount of my liking next time instead of following other people's recipes.
@thatbird2
@thatbird2 3 жыл бұрын
@@maria.99 Absolutely! All seasonings are to taste. That settles that. :)
@Harasezza

I tried the recipe as well, and ran into the same issue with the saltiness. I ended up using three cans of chickpeas in the end to balance out the flavor. I would definitely use half the amount of salt next time, but otherwise it was delicious!

OR Boil 2 cans of chickpeas with 2 tsp of baking soda for 5 minutes OR boil water then add the chickpeas with 2 tsp of baking soda and boil for 2.. the skin will automatically come off and float to the top.. just skim them off with a slotted spoon. Stir to get the rest to float on top after skimming those off stir again to get the rest of the skin to float on top. And just keep doing that until there isn’t anymore to skim off.

I prefer to put smooth peanut butter in my home made hummus, as well as Olive Oil and Lemon Juice and Garlic, and some Sugar. Also I like a small amount of Chipotle Chilli !!! The most insanely priced Hummus comes in a Matchbox Size Pack and there is no Olive Oil or lemon Juice in it !!!!! And it's horribly Expensive !!!! I would never buy Hummus from the Supermarket because it's horrible and all it contains is mashed up Chickpeas !!!!! Now that meat is Very Expensive I'm changing over to more Vegetarian type food !!!! Another thing I do with Hummus is I add Nutritional yeast, lemon juice,Olive Oil, salt, sugar and Milk Powder !!!! It's like Cheese but not so fattening !!!!
