Today we are going to make a C172 panel for a Cessna 172R Flight Simulator.

This is the video I have been looking for! I have been wanting to make my own panel, but all the other videos show the ones people have purchased or gave no details. I'm going to print those off, and start getting to work. I am thinking I will make a frame to slide in some monitors into the back to work with Air Manager for the steam dials, and get a couple touch screen monitors to use for the GPS. You're the best Captain Bob! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Likely not as it is a small panel only sim, but I might experiment with it. I will [(edit) probably not] do an immersive 737 after the C172 :)

U can find panel on net, than use free software Posterize, make big poster than in same software cut in a4 sheets and print that way you have printed on holes and switeches on place.. but anyway good job

@@mickedr572 That is an awesome idea! Something else that might be worth doing - Get this printed off on a full-size poster, and laminate it. You could then laminate it to make a template for later use.

What are the Height and Width of the yoke hole ?

7.25 from bottom of panel (not bottom most hump), and 11 inches from left, both dimensions on center. Diameter 1.5 inches.

@@mattivirta Well I'm not most builders! :) This method used the panel as both a structure and a panel so I went with thicker material. In the future, I'll use a 19mm panel "ghost" and a 3mm acrylic panel for the front.

I took them off at 1:03, because my glasses would fog up. I figured it would be better to get a little bit of sawdust in my eye than cut my hand sanding, or damaging my lungs. I probably should of tightened the top of the respirator and worn the glasses with it. Note: all other workshop scenes in this video were filmed with safety glasses.

I have now! It's a breeze! Wood is still sold in imperial inside the USA so thickness is in imperial but everything else in the sim is metric!
