Chef here. Made this on Thanksgiving. Today is my second time making it. Hands down the quickest and best cornbread recipe out there. I suggest if you want it fluffier. Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks and fold it in right before you put it into the hot pan/bowl.

Sweet baby Jesus, hands down this is the BEST cornbread I’ve ever made/eaten in my 46 years. Made it in a cast iron pan and I could’ve baked it for 2-3 more minutes (I did 20, my oven runs hot usually) because it was just a little too soft in the middle but that didn’t stop me from horking it down! So good!!!

Every cornbread recipe I’ve tried comes out dry, so I’m going to try this. And a tip for you: spray your measuring spoon (or cup) with cooking spray before measuring out honey (or peanut butter) and it comes out so easily you won’t have to use your finger. 😊

Great video Jasmine. What you made using the brown sugar and vanilla is actually called Johnny Cake. My grandma made it for years, and passed the recipe down to all of us. I have never seen a video for it before so a big THANK YOU to you for that. We always make this during the holiday season and it's a big hit with everyone!!❤

I still remember back in elementary school in the 80's (back when a lot of the cafeteria food was scratch made) we would occasionally be served corn bread with a sweet honey butter topping. I can still taste it, and I'll bet this is very similar 😋

This recipe is my new crack. The highest butter fat I can get is 82%, but it totally works. Some people I know in the south blend crumbled bacon into the honey butter. Divine!

Just made it this recipe within the past hour, and it is perfection! Eating it with some chili too, and this cornbread is the balance for this meal. Notes: I warmed up my cast iron skillet on the stove on medium (instead of the oven to prevent the butter from burning initially) and cooked for 20 minutes. It was thoroughly cooked throughout and came out with the best crust. I wish I had european butter for the glaze (next time!); might try flavored honey for complexity. This looks awesome👍. I always sprinkle sugar on top of my muffins before baking, even if I've thrown in bacon bits or a small can of diced green chiles. The sweetness adds so much and adds a light crunch to the muffin top.

Jasmine - I just made this to accompany turkey chili for dinner this evening and the cornbread is very good. I cut the sugar to 1/3rd of a cup and with the honey topping, it's delicious. The bread itself has a wonderful texture, its moist and has a nice crumb. Thanks for a fine recipe.
