I couldn’t sleep last night so I put my earbuds in and watched this as my hubby was sleeping and at least 3 times I burst into laughter. Finding your KZfaq channel makes my heart happy. Arne is like a little kid, munching on almonds and cleaning the whipped cream bowl ( a trait I share lol ) and Carlos got into the crumb mixture. Love you both , from Cape Breton NS 💕🇨🇦

Oh my goodness!! We make this on a regular basis. Especially using ground up vanilla wafers and stewed strawberry rhubarb and whipped cream. Layers look so beautiful in a glass bowl. It’s a family favourite taught to my sister and I by our Norwegian mom. I’ll have to try the apple version. You made my day extra happy. Tusen takk.

I was thinking the same thing. Canada here. I have always baked it in a 8"×8" pan with apples, a bit of sugar, and the topping contains brown sugar and butter with oats and sometimes flour. It is crunchy on top, can be served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. I do want to try the Norwegian version!

We make a thing called apple crisp, where you throw sweetened apples in a glass pan and put crunch mixture on top (I make it with oatmeal, butter and honey) and bake it until the apples are done. Then serve with whipped cream. I guess we did it to use up oven space/time when baking something else.

We also had this dessert -lots of times -in the late 70's 🙂in Groningen. We called it "Danish apple cake" and we didn't bother with the layers at all. It was just the smothered apple, than the crumble on top (sometimes with roasted and roughly chopped walnuts added) and than the cream and extra cinnamon to finish. In big soup bowls .Hahaha. Yummy!
