So this is how those supersaws and chords I used to love as a kid (and still love) were created in the 2000's. Now that I have the knowledge (basic knowledge, at least) to create those sounds, combined with online tutorials like yours, I'm going to try and take my production skills to the next level. Thanks for inspiring me to start working on trance music again, I really appreciate it! 😁😁 P.S.: Spire is a great synth, probably my favorite. It's interface is so intuitive!

To be honest, Ambient music uses Reverb even more intensely than Trance. Their reverb decay times can be between 40-70+ seconds lol. But even though Trance reverbs are absolutely gorgeous when done in a professional and great manner, Ambient still does it even better in my opinion, purely because they really focus on creating atmospheres and they are just so purely based on that sound really.

Very much appreciate these tutorials. Do you recommend any hardware synths for these types of sounds? Tend to lean towards analog gear... I'm trying to recreate these sounds on a Prophet 12, but doesn't even come close. I was looking at a few different Access Virus machines. Any advice?

Valeu!!

Nice tut thanks. And btw, just how beast of a synth IS Spire? It's been kickin ass for how many years now? I just prefer the warmth and analog feel of it over Serum. Love it.
@djvar94
@djvar94 2 жыл бұрын
Serum is great too. If you just use a bit of saturation/distortion in it you can go a very long way in Serum as well. Or of course, you can also use 3rd party effects, but it doesn't mean that any one is better than the other, they're both great synths, both can sound a bit different but the real difference lies more in the versatility side, with Serum being more capable of achieving more experimental sounds alongside traditional ones giving you more LFOs that are also custom drawable and you can also set the oscillators' waveforms to be assigned to the LFO shape as well, custom and powerful wavetable engine + more and Spire being more traditional focused. Depends what you're looking for from a synth I guess.

Demis, how many seconds reverb tail do you typically use on arp plucks in trance (say for 138 BPM)? It seems to be quite long. Is this to get the epic trance vibe?
@demishellen
@demishellen 5 жыл бұрын
In this particular example I did not focus on the effects but more the chords etc. I tailor the reverb usually to ear and speed. Possibly a tut for the future.
