I LOVe this design. I can't wait to try it when I get some of the appropriate wire. I have been doing all these wraps that have all this extra wire all over and I haven't liked them. The stone should be the star of the show and in this wrap it is. I love it. Thank you!

my wire just arrived in the post box this morning, though i won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. I can't wait to get making with this! I've been storing up some beautiful stones and I think this will be one of the first things I make, just as a 'getting used to the new wire' kind of thing.

Thank you. I have been stressing myself out trying to do intricate designs and then decided to try something else. I saw this video and finished a piece in 10 minutes. I now have a beautiful pendant to give to a friend. I'll be making more with this technique before trying to move on to harder stuff

Thank you thank you 🙏 your approach made this so easy to follow - I can’t believe how beautifully mine turned out!! Many people have commented here on the beauty of the simplicity. Add me to the list… this is absolute perfection, especially in contrast to some styles which use so much wire they conceal the magic of the stone ❤

Thanks soo much!! Love your prong setting technique(and side note, it’s super cute how it looks like a lil man mid-way lol). Going to give this a shot!

Hi. I love the prong pendant tutorial and would like to experiment with some sea glass that I have (hope the backings don't show through though). I could not see what you did with the 2 wires which you cut off from the loop on the back, apart from bending them outwards? Did you secure them in some way or tuck them in somewhere? Thanks for sharing.
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry 2 жыл бұрын
thank you for watching. i just bent the wires and cut them i didn't do much else. I"m not sure if this will work with translucent stones/sea glass though.
@wolfmom21fl52

I have a question? If I do NOT cut the 2 wires coming from the loop, instead using them for 2 extra prongs for a much larger stone, would this work? I have a beautiful laboradite cab, tear drop shape that is quite large and I think it would need more than 4 prongs. The stone measures about 65x45mm
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry 7 ай бұрын
U can do that if u want 6 prongs. I haven't tried it myself but I think it would work.

I love this tutorial, thanks for the extra polishing tips! Any recommendations on a jewellery dremel? My standard one is way too powerful 🤔
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry Жыл бұрын
Hmm I'm using the standard dremel at 10 setting most of the time. But it does help to use a flex shaft so you can control it more.

Gorgeous! Will dead soft wire also work?
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry 2 жыл бұрын
For the pendant it might work but maybe if u will use dead soft, it's best to add more prongs to make sure it's secure. I personally haven't tried it. But for the ring, u can only use half hard.

This is a design taken from Jim McIntosh’s book Wiresmithing. It was published October 2008 with Amazon. You should credit him if you’re going to use his designs.
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for informing me but I didn't use his designs as reference. This was purely something I thought of myself which was derived from my other tutorial on the prong ring. If there is a similarity, it is purely coincidental.

Ok. But he has both in his book.
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry Жыл бұрын
I see. But I never read his books, so I really had no idea. If I watched his video prior, I would mention him as reference as I always do and I always encourage people to do. I've been in the art and design world for a long time to know how to do that. :) And just so you know, I've already spoken to him on the subject since this came up just now. So hope that clears it up.

I've never done wire wrapping, but I'd like to try this. To be on the safe side I'd prefer extra prongs as the stones I'll be using are large and too valuable to risk losing. Would I just add extra wires and eyeball where to put them? Thank you for the generous tutorial!
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry Жыл бұрын
You can definitely add more wire if you want. Just follow the same procedure by connecting them all together first and bend. :) thank u for watching
@lilyt5855
@lilyt5855 Жыл бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of pen are you using to make marks on the wires? I see sharpies in your Amazon list, but I didn't want to permanent mark something if I shouldn't. Also, you mention diamond files as an alternative to the buffing tool. Is there any particular grit you recommend? Thank you so much!
@MithrilArtsandJewelry
@MithrilArtsandJewelry Жыл бұрын
@@lilyt5855 I don't mind at all. :) the exact markers I use is called "Monami Permanent Twin Markers" unfortunately, it's not available in Amazon but I did find something similar from the same brand (Monami) which i think is better because it has a finer tip on one end. I've been using this brand for years so I know it works well. Otherwise, a sharpie would be ok. When making jewelry, permanent markers are more suitable to use. In any case, you can always remove it with a nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. When it comes to Diamond files, I only use a specific set but it doesn't have any grit. it is quite rough tho and i've added it in my amazon list. So you can start with that and just smoothen it out with different grits of nail files or you can make your own by covering a small popcicle stick with sandpaper. I've also included the fine sandpapers I use in the list. I hope that answers your questions.
