Hello Tom. It is great the way you make it very clear that your smooth, contoured shapes all start from flat, square foam block stock pieces. That you gradually add bevels and curves to the square shapes--on all sides...,in order to produce the almost cylindrical, streamlined finished models. This is a process very important for beginners to 'see', so that they are not intimidated from making symmetrical curves on their designs. I am curious when you mentioned their are"..imperfections.." = gouges & holes in your foam. Canyou possibly find out IF a product called DTE[..diatomaceous earth..] is available in your country? It is a white powder made from groundup sediment--almost like limestone; its main purpose is for water filtration systems, an extremely fine powder/sand similar to talcum. It is however ALSO used for gardening & growing vegetables & flowers--to control moisture retention in soil. A 1kg bag is extremely cheap in the U.S....it is used worldwide & 'should' be affordable in Nigeria too. I mention this because it can serve the SAME purpose as 'glass microballoons'--for filling in holes & irregularities in foam builiding. The main difference being that it is merely a fraction of the cost of glass microballoons. A single 1kg bag will last you forever, yet it mixes with water, all types of glue..is sandable...blends with all paint directly...and can be smoothed over a finished model surface, to remove imperfections & get a perfect skin. For your building workshop, it would be an indispensable addition--worth MORE than REAL microballoons to you.
