I finished it! Worth every moment that I spent learning from this very well presented tutorial. The real beauty of it is the parts are universal. Once one get's a sense of how the logic works, i.e., between the player, the enemies, and the interactive set components such as the gate, not to mention the projectiles, in this case tracing "bullets" , that logic can be used repeatedly. I hope anyone for whom this tutorial is meant for, basically beginners like myself with some familiarity with UE, dive into this. It will help you so much. Think of it as a series of 30 or more short tutorials. but all working towards the same objective: To teach the mechanics of UE 5 that are readily applicable to a wide variety of game scenarios. Can't say enough good things about this tut. I close with thanks so much.

Fantastic tutorial! Just finished it today everything explained so well and managed to get everything working. Only minor issue I encountered was the texture on zombies suddenly became very low resolution after I began I implement more features. I increased my texture streaming budget but that still didn't do anything. Apart from that great tutorial!! Love you explain what things do and explain when you introduce new nodes!

For an Unreal noob such as myself, you are easier to follow than most other channels. I'm one hour into this tutorial and happy so far! Thanks for making this smooth tutorial and keeping it in a realistic pacing!! Your channel deserves to grow. ps. 56:00 where you delete this control rig because of the feet problem.. I'm through to reloading, about beginning of hour 3. This is great to learn from in that MizzoFrizzo speaks so clearly, explains what he's doing, and keeps the presentation in logical order. In other words, you know what your supposed to learn in advance. He show's you how to do it, and explains the logic, and then makes it clear he's going on to the next feature. There are many things to learn here. I can't say enough good things about this tutorial. I hope it gets the attention it deserves. Maybe replace Manny with Lora Croft type! It might help with the marketing. This tutorial is excellent.

It took 5 days of intense effort, a couple failed trys, but i managed to make the game ty. i made a big cop zombie to that runs fast and takes more damage so i want to make a sniper next to take him out. if you dont beat boss zombie another adds on the next wave, the goomba zombies start the wave so the boss zombie can add up and create chaos. ty ty ty. some times i thought stuff went wrong so id have to go far back because id miss one little thing. as a adhd person i follow every step so going back and forth is really hard. a concise video a to z no back and forth. as a newb it really throws me off. i am forever grate full for your video lots of valuable information. all in one video, the looking up and down, the camera movement, the over the shoulder camera socket, using line tracers, the blend space. head shot body shot damage. amazing man ty ty ty

If anyone is watching this and making it in UE 5.4.2 - you DON'T need to add any notifies to the machine gun, you can just add the booleans... the notify is already set up properly in the animations so you can skip that part and just do the booleans and KEEP the the 'set max ammo and the ammo' intergers.. DO NOT delete them as it'll prevent you from reloading.

one thing I have noticed following your videos is you keep having to dock your blueprints every time you open them , an easy fix is go to editor preferences , just look down the general appearance tab to asset editor open location and set it to main window ,all those seconds dragging them into the top of the editor mount up !

That’s good for sure and I agree. You should always enjoy making your content to avoid being burnt out. Just didn’t know if there was a specific target audience you were focusing on to grow the channel faster. Other than people that “wanna make games” the “True FPS” series videos seem to have the most views on the channel and IMO that’s what people were coming to the channel for. I enjoy the content that you provide as it is very in depth and easy to follow. However I would like to see this channel grow to exceedingly high numbers before it dissipates. Like most channels people do still get bored of “making what they want” and the channel goes inactive. Most successful, still active channels do have ONE particular audience before branching into “whatever I want” phase. I’m not hating on this channel at all or trying to be disrespectful in any form. Just curious about the direction of the channel and what’s happening. Keep up the good work! Much love! ❤✌️

I have a problem when I shoot with the weapon: it shoots off target, and I don't know why. The 'Barrel' socket is correctly positioned, but it's as if there is a collision with the camera or something like that. Do you know where the problem might be coming from ? When I shoot at the ground, it works very well. However, when I aim my weapon at the sky, the movements of my shot are no longer followed by the weapon.

I can't imagine what I did wrong lol... I followed you all the way through until the first time the zombie ragdolled... mine ragdolled fine, followed you in to the constraints... when i saved and exited my zombie disappeared on my game... there was still a capsule in his place but somehow his mesh had disappeared... starting over for the 3rd time today and going to try again. The first time i messed up I forgot to do a small step when setting up the aim logic.

Hey I wanted to thank you for the great tutorial, as many said before me :) But I have two issues which I can´t seem to figure out: 1. My line trace hits the Zombie and I can also print the dmg (60 headshot, 20 everything else) but it does not apply the dmg to the zombie. 2. I implemented the Zombie spawning mechanic and the line trace hit´s the hand placed zombie (dmg still does not work) and the line trace goes right through the 3 spawned ones. That´s why I think something is off with the line trace. I searched for many hours now looked at the collisions, checked it can be dmg is ticked and redid the zombie etc. I can´t figure it out. Any suggestions?

Just to add i do have an extra widget as i did not wanna see the crosshair all the time so implemented that in the player blueprint aim logic, this is whats colliding as i did the noob way and remove all widgets do you know a way i could get it to work with the hiding visibility as ive tried multiple ways and still getting errors.

For some reason my comment wasn't attached to the thanks so here it is: Incredible tutorial mate! I have a question now though, you didn't implement proper death animations here for example. I made a random animation picker out of the number of montages I have and it gets a random animation but the thing is, when I die and the animation is supposed to play, it only plays on the upper body. This is something to do with the blending you did in the anim BP, I have no clue how to get the desired behaviour, that is, play animation on the entire body like you would normally. An extra short video on this would be dope, would also teach how to get out of the blended animations and stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, 100% deserved a sub and a thanks :)

Your work is great and everyone can learn so much by doing this tutorial. So then, no worries regarding the AI suggestion, just a fan of your abilities and thought it would be a good fit. No disappointment at all, as I am so impressed with your tutorials and continue to work this one and am looking forward to starting your dual player tutorial. I've been doing a lot of work with this one, adding a scene I purchased, Cyber punk Street. Zombies fit right in. Also added other enemies extending off of your game logic. I do have plans to combine that with one of the AI NPC systems to try to cobble together an immersive adventure filled with action and a little intrigue curtesy of our robot overlords. Again no disappoint here, your tutorias are so good that I really am developing my skills faster that I could have imagined. Thanks for the video!! at 3:10:32 I got messed up with the reroute node. I feel like you started to move a bit quicker than someone with no experience with unreal nodes can follow. Now my subtract node isn't working the way you placed it i can't plug the return value node into the subtract node and not familiar enough to fix :/. Dead in the water till i figure this out. But i think could have been easy if you walked through that slow like you did everything else.

Hey ! Love the video and great content!! Im just having an error / glitch where my progress bar isn't working it's allways full and i see the animation on my character with is so odd can you help? (p.s : i had also a bug on the animation of the zombie hitting the gate with the 0.5 delay i put it at 1.5 and it worked all fine, apart from this all was the same and worked fine) Thanks in advance friend! :)

I don't know if I missed something But I am stuck at the 1:18:52. It won't allow me to connect character to "get aiming?" It won't pop up the "get aiming?" unless I uncheck the context sensitive box. When I do the step before and make the "Set" variable type to BP Third Person Character it Makes my node lines RED! "BP_THIRD PERSON CHARACTER REFERENCE IS NOT COMPATIBLE" is the error message I get. Please Help!

You do need to change the cast and variable type. If there are red lines you can hold ctrl and drag lines from the old character pin to the new one...

Hello. I have a question. Something is not working correctly for me with the zombie animations. In 2:35:30 You can see the preview of animation inside UE, i cannot ;/ And later - afrer setting up all BS etc when i want to place him in the world - animations are not working too :( I've imported animation correctly - witch choosing proper skeleton etc. Can You help me please?

Question. @1:21 when you are blending the aiming animation. I followed it to a T, but when I click the right mouse button the animation doesn't show up. The character moves slower, but there is now aiming animation. I am completely stumped at this point. Any help or insight would be nice.

I'm sorry I haven't timestamped chapters for this video yet, but it would be easier for me to help you if you could give me a timestamp for the section where we set up the aiming animation... I can guarantee that you haven't followed it to a T, because I always very clearly show how to make everything work.

@@PitchforkAcademy Nevermind I figured that out, but was wondering something else. I would like the bullet cases to disappear after a few seconds to optimize performance. I tried adding a Destroy component node after the spawn with a delay and a reference to the bulletcasing, I put it on a sequence node on pin 2, while the first sequence continues the loop. But this isn't working. Could you recommend a better way to handle this and maintain the firing loop. Thanks. Great tutorial

@@emwave100 Inside the bullet casing BP's event graph on event begin play put a delay and then a destroy actor. Done. 🙂

@@PitchforkAcademy I think it's where he is selecting the cubes after making the tunnel. I am also struggling to find the 'default physical material' after selecting the cubes in the map. He has figured it out but I can't for the life of me!

My gate is not falling , i double checked everything. Also my timeline says its paused. Also my character can rotate around its spine even if i clamped it. How to solve?

@@MarQQuiSsee You've just got to keep trying. Programming is tough to learn, and the pain and frustration that we get from unexpected and hard-to-resolve bugs is just a natural part of the learning curve. If you're cut out for it, you will overcome it!

@@PitchforkAcademy i can die now, but cant get the gate to work. 9n event destroy gate noth8ng happens , tried on tick and overlap the gate falls but the timeline still sits at 0.

Hey, you might want to try looking at some tuts that talk about opening doors when an overlap occurs. You'll get a feeling for what's supposed to happen. I got my gate to work but going through some other tuts that address, more or less, the same thing, helps to get the big picture. I can tell you that Mizzo's tutorial does work exceptionally well.. One pin left unplugged somewhere along the line will cause many problems. keep double checking. it does work. Good luck. Keep at it. you'll learn so much..just a thought, try moving the zombie away from the gate and see if it works. Sometimes one actor interferes with another. don't know why yet myself, but I know it does happen.
