Both are different things. First you have to learn basic commands, once yeh get expertise then switch to an advanced algorithm which is PD. In line following no one uses PID. They both have different control algorithms. Usually people say I worked on PID but it's actually a PD. Remember practice make you perfect, it's a good hobby as well makes your logics stronger.
