Hello everyone! Now that I've moved into my new room, I needed a bigger ironing board. The board that was cut for my quilt table had an extra piece that I will use to create my new Marpat Ironing Board. I used the Freeman PFWS Professional Fine Wire Stapler. The links are listed below!

Love watching your videos. Everyone in your family is so positive. I am also a new quilter, I have made some in the past but really did not know what I was doing, now like you I use you tube for direction. I lost my daughter suddenly last year and was frozen in time, unable to move forward. I took up quilting again and find it soothing. I can sit for hours and just be alone with my thoughts, it means that some of my quilts are full of tears, but that's OK. I love how you say you are on a budget, most of us are, but most would want you to believe they have unlimited funds. This is but another attribute that makes you so likable. Thank you for your positive attitude.

I wish I had had a compressed air stapler when I covered mine, because getting those staples to go through all those layers of batting and fabric, all the folds at the corners, and then actually go INTO the wood -- that was REALLY difficult with only a hand stapler - and mine is a heavy-duty one that I bought at the hardware store. So I really recommend having all the power you can get to make your board!
@TheQuiltingMarine

Mine is available come on by. I'll warm it up for you lol. A heavy duty stapler can be a little challenging even for those with some strength, but can be done and hang tough!

Your compressor is so quiet!!!! I love the ironing board. I had to cover the bottom of mine as well because the staples were gouging the table underneath. I just made a big pillowcase kind of thing to cover mine. I can take it off and wash it. I used canvas for my base covering. I love the camo! Authentic Marpat that is too cool!

The Quilting Marine Thanks, that is a great idea! I picked up a very old very dusty, heavy duty ironing board at the St Vincent thrift store. I think it was a fabulous buy for just five dollars! I am planning on anchoring plywood to the top of it and covering it myself so that it will be a much bigger surface then the regular sized ironing board. You’ve come a long way! 🎉 Thank you for the really good video information!

From trash to useful treasure! A neighbor tossed a nice lightweight folding table only because the top was scratched and stained. I brought it home to do crafts and later made an ironing board cover for it. I used an old wool blanket for padding and a good heavy cotton fabric for the top. I cut it 2 inches wider and longer than the table and serged the two layers together. Then I sewed velcro straps on each corner of the cover to fasten the cover to the table. The straps criss-cross under each corner of the table and everything stays down nicely while I press. When I'm done I fold the ironing pad put it away and I can still use the table to work on my sewing or crafts. Love that little table!

@@TheQuiltingMarine Maybe you can bolt it to a sturdy ironing board frame? Then you can fold it and set it aside when you don't need it?

Did you have to use cotton batting because of the heat of the iron??? Being a Army veteran from the 80 I don't think I could do digital camo lol. But I do think it will be great to hide the stains you get from ironing.
