How to Make Your Own Strokes in Sumi-E Painting

Follow along with this exciting free art lesson, where you'll watch professional artist Bill Buchman demonstrate how to manipulate the Sumi-E brush to make up your own strokes using the Bill Buchman brushes. Bill will show you how he takes advantage of the natural shapes the brush can take, and how dry brush can look different from wet brush. This is a wonderful art project for any artist interested in trying their hand at Eastern-style painting.

Hmm it seems that you don’t use the rice paper, but a thinker wood paper. With the rice paper its impossible to paint without some kind of paper holder
