UPDATE: It is now possible to map a secondary domain! In order to do this, make sure the site was published by a user in your secondary domain (@yoursecondarydomain.com) and when selecting the domain in the admin console you can now select the secondary domain. Update your DNS records, and you are good to go!

Hello. Ive published my site under my custom domain. It worked. The problem is, it only can be viewed by my GSuite members. Under the Sites Visibility options, I only can select 2 options: 1) GSuite members and 2) Private (only for the owner). But I cant select an option for the web to be public for all the people, including outside members of my GSuite account. Any suggestion please?

I followed your guide, thanks! But at the end I was still stuck as there was one step your guide missed. I would recommend add this missing piece onto the video to make it complete. Ensure to inform users to check that the settings for "Published - Anyone can find and view" are set as by default, it's only published to users in your domain. I had to change this for the 5 sub domains I added. It's pretty consistent.

Hello, thanks a lot for this usefull video. I'm not on Gsuite, and my domain name provider ask for the Google Site ip adress so that the naked site (the url without www) could point to Google site. Any idea how to get Googkle site ip adress ? Thx

The option is in the same menu, however it is " Custom URL " . You are correct, there have been changes in the interface!

Hi! thanks for all your useful videos! I have one question that maybe you can help. My Server Provider (STRATO in Germany) tells me I can only change the CNAME of a subdomain. I really don't want to use a subdomain, but a normal Website that starts with www. Like the one I have right now. Do you have any recommendations? Is it possible also to use a subdomain for the URL? thanks in advance!

They already have some built-in restrictions in Google Sites, so that not anybody can view the site - so I think using these options, plus uploading my KZfaq videos with private or unlisted restriction. When I try to follow your instructions it says: admin.google.com is used for G Suite accounts only. Regular Gmail accounts cannot be used to sign in to admin.google.com

To answer both your questions, in order to have a domain name you will have to our have the name through a domain name reseller such as GoDaddy. However, Google Sites will allow you to map that purchased domain name to your Site, created in a personal Gmail account. Hope this helps.

I completed all the steps, yet when I try to go to my website it says "This page isn't working", "redirected you too many times" "Try clearing your cookies" "ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS" then the reload button is at the bottom of the page. I think it's a silly question, but I've made my gtrainerdemo acocunt and then I removed the domain gtrainerdemo; however, you suggested to change my alias to Primary. Actually, do you mind telling me if changing it to primary will affect anything on my account and also the users' settings and use?

I have both still active. Switching it to Primary is just going to allow you to Map it to the domain and also when working in the Admin consol, allow you to provision users with @Primarydomain.com instead of @gtrainerdome.Primarydomain.com

Sometimes it can take some time. May I ask what g suite edition you are using? Do you have access to the admin console or not?

@@henrikduffy5789 it can take a little time to push new setting from your domain provider but if its linger than 24 hours I would double check all my records with you domain name provider.

That shouldn't have to be a problem. Once you have purchased a domain name it is yours and you can map it or create subdomains.

Hi, if you do not have acces to the admin console(no gsuite), you will have to use a different method. One is redirecting. That means when people type the domain name, they are redirected to the sites.google.com url. Hope this helps you out. However, I am also a Google for education certified trainer and thus have access to my own training domain and a training domain from an official Google Partner, I run bootcamps and trainings with these.

A question that comes to mind is what does the website address look like after you have done this mapping? Is the website address the new subdomain name or is it still a Google sites address? To clarify, I am asking about the URL that is in the browser after the page has been opened.

If you have 'mapped' the domain, then the domain name will be the url shown. However, using a 'redirect' wil show the original sites.google.com url. This mapping the address would be the best way.

OK. That makes sense and it means that I have to have something wrong with my set up. My subdomains work but when I get to those sites I have the Google sites address instead of my domain. It must be in the DNS settings and I think I know what it is now. Thank you!

The Go Daddy DNS settings have clued me into something that is very different about Google domains DNS settings. I now know what needs to be in the field but it was not at all intuitive from Google domains when I did the initial set up last year.

After checking the DNS CNAME Records these details were correct. Since my previously published sites were classic sites, I decided to create a new format site and see if that worked any differently. This time It did map correctly and it appears as a sub domain. Thinking that the classic sites may not have been mapped correctly I remapped those tonight, however they still appear as Google sites. Obviously something must still be wrong as there would be no point in mapping the sites in this way when a simple synthetic record would achieve the same result. When initializing the mapping there is the option to select new or classic and of course I have selected classic. Certainly not a big deal but it is a curious point and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm afraid that removing the footer is currently not possible. Google is providing hosting and a website builder at no cost, so I feel the footer is a small step in returning thanks. Personally it does not bother me to have a footer for beginning websites. Once you are ready to upgrade to self host and other website builders you won't have to deal with the footer problem. Hope this answers your question :-)

+Anderson Menezes you can also add a custom domain to your personal website. I've not made a video on this yet, will do soon. You would have to first verify ownership of the domain, add you DNS record to the domain, then assign the custom URL.

I purchased my domain from Google Domain. and Google transfer me to Domaindiscount24.com and give me this message for Advanced DNS settings : Your domain is registered with Domaindiscount24.com. If you want to change advanced DNS settings or update your WHOIS information, you can access Domaindiscount24.com's DNS control panel. Changes to your advanced DNS settings, such as MX and CNAME records, may disrupt Google services that you've activated for your domain. Can you help? Thanks
