I cheated the process last year cause I got a bit lazy.... bumped up my FOC .....my broadheads were flying "good enough"... over the winter I went back to the process and had to change my arrow rest around, adjust my nock point.... and I know very little about bow tuning.... and I now have the bareshaft shooting bullet holes with 300 grains up front and 600 grains total arrow weight... what a difference... broadheads now fly "perfect"...!!! I shoot 125 grain broadheads on 400 spine 26” arrows and they fly well for me. Yes, I’ve heard people say I’m shooting too stiff, but it works for me

Bare shaft tuned my bow and I use the axis 300 and it shoots bullet holes total weight 575gr with the 3" vanes 150gr magnus stinger Killer Bees

You make the most sense and then bac it up with proof of arrow performance on actual animals...none of the other channels can compete...keep up the good work...

Awesome vid got my arrows flying straight at 20 yards with no fetching! Now throwing some 3 inch vanes and I have a 600.18 grain arrow with a nasty cutthroat on the end with a 100 grain ethics insert in my apollo arrow ready for turkeys around the corner a antelope hunt in September and whitetails after that!

I built a new set of twizzlers. I like them. They are nock tuned and shooting perfect bullet holes through paper. 300 spine out of my 66 lb Mathews Triax, 475 grains, 12.5%, 165 gn up front, 28", Magnus 4 bld stinger buzzcut. I'm 100 % sure they will blow thru any blacktail where I live. I will be using them for Elk also, I like the trajectory for the longer shots I encounter for elk.

I'm shooting a 28 1/2 inch 300 spine Apollo with 100 grain insert and 125 grain point (28 in draw). After going through the ranch fairy kit, bare shaft tuning, nock tuning, and adjusting my rest slightly, I got my arrows shooting almost perfect but still had a slight tear right. So after eliminating every other factor, I decided to increase my poundage from 60 lbs to 70 lbs and they started flying like darts. Just something to consider doing if you find yourself struggling to get the little imperfections out of the arrow. Total arrow weight is 530 grains with 17% FOC.

My arrow is .300 spine, 10.2 gpi shaft, 150gr insert, 125head, 4 vanetec vanes, 627 gr taw. Great flying,hard hitting.

It took me a week last summer of tinkering to get my arrow set up flying perfect with 640 plus green arrow 19%+ FOC shooting 150 grain Kayuga broadheads out of my 2015 HOYT CST. My older Hoyt that is slower But not by much just a longer brace height shoots 200 grain broadheads better than the 2015 HOYT. Putting my FOC well over 20% With almost a 700 green arrow. Now in that week maybe a little more time I did lose some arrows and I did lose some broadheads, But I find tuned that sumbitch and it shoots lazer beams out of both bows. I sent ranch fairy a short video last year, which I've never done for any utuber. The lighted knock really helps clock your arrow flight especially in slow motion, so you can really see how that arrow flight is. 🎯🇺🇸 Think you Troy for all the information you have put out there for people to wake their a*ses up.

Sadly some people just read a tagline or headline and run with it instead of reading the whole article. Kind of like they do with newspaper or online news articles. I for one didn't miss the point that you have said over and over about Structural Integrity and Perfect Arrow flight as well as shaving sharp cut on contact broadheads are more important than FOC. If a 480 grain arrow flies better than a 600+ grain monster then use that one, especially if the Structural Integrity and super sharp broadheads are in your system and your bow is tuned. Thanks again for the reminder for those who misunderstood.

truth spoken! i shoot my recurve with 60 lbs and 240 easton bloodlines! it is madness cause i got 375 grain in the tip. over 22% foc banger.

If you have already covered this I apologize....but I have went back to aluminum arrows as it seems way easier to hit my goal which is right around 610 total arrow weight. I shoot 175 g zwickey's of different models. However the glue on knocks came installed also I love 3rivers arrow builder so opted to get a dozen bare shaft and a dozen 4 fletched. I got it shooting damn good with both but would appreciate any advice or help you can pass along as I haven't shot aluminum since I was a boy and must say I do miss it. Also have my carbons I building too which with the new v max rest is really helping fill my "GOLF BAG". any and all knowledge and help is greatly relieved and appreciated from me as I am passing along the knowledge as much as I can.

I have a Easton axes 4mm long range 340 spin shooting 175 grain up front with 18.5 % foc and only around 436 grain total weight and flying like darts

Been hand loading my second set up for my newer bow I got. Could not ditch the left tear I had going on the bare shafts. Adjusted cables and rest. Removed my peep sight, and now punching holes in paper. Going to be 650-680gr when done. Still gotta tinker a little.

100gr or 125 gr broadheads with 9.5 grain per inch arrow cut to 29 inches has fed me well. Arrows and broad heads are expensive. I’ve never known the bow and arrow to be so complicated.

Built arrows last year using your method of tuning. Worked great. Took a black eagle carnivore 250 spine 29” in length weighing in at about 465gn. Thought I’d step it up a notch and added 100gn inserts. Now at 565gn , a couple of arrows are little squirrely a couple seem to shoot just fine. Haven’t did any arrow tuning yet. What do you suggest ?

Been thru the process. I have a couple that fly good, 200, and 100 grain field tips. Total weights at 625/525. For bone braking, I know the 625 is better. Is there a preference? This is for whitetails, so distance would normally be 40yds and less. I can live with its trajectory on the 625, can shot good out to 60yds. I know some would say go with the 525 for flatter trajectory. Is just a personal preference on my end?

If,let's say, going to hammer a nail into a board and the hammer your swinging is hitting the nail sideways or glancing of a bit the nail goes in crooked and it will take a long time to hammer it in. You only get one strike on a critter mmmm... I would like to hit it as perfect as possible. 😏

I can honestly say with certainty that the process works and the time works i had no real money to play with to build arrows some old carbons laying around at 30 inch they weigh in at 682 with about 200 grains of good ol number 7 in the point and a paper wad and four fletch turkey vanes shoot amazing and smack the target hard shot out of 45# Ben Pearson Cougar at maybe 28"

Suggestions for improving flight on the 6 arrows out of my dozen that don't fly quite as well? 65#, 27" draw/shaft length carbon to carbon Vulcan, 4x A&A fletch (~6.9gr total) lighted knock (~15gr), 100gr insert, 200gr points. About 640gr total and 21% FOC. Also what's a "good group" at 30 meters with 5-6mph gusts?

hey Mr Ranch, I was wondering if you've made a video about matching the bevel side of a single bevel broadhead to the feather fletchings side, especially it seems important for helical fletchings. I'm looking at those new vantage point SB broadheads, they look quite thick and the bevel is quite pronounced, so it would have an effect on rotation, no? [sorry if I'm just too dumb to have seen it]

Ill be running 200 grains on the end of my arrows (125g buzz cuts and 75g brass inserts) 26" draw length, 27" arrows and 65 pound draw. I'm not sure if I should go with a 340 or 300 spine. So I’m new to the channel and the Ashby reports. My current setup is a victory Vap TKO elite 350 spine cut down to 27 inches with 55 grains up front plus 100 grain head(will be moving up to 125 this year) with a 26 inch draw out of about 65-68 pounds. I’m getting a total arrow weight of 412 with 14% FOC. I live in eastern Tennessee and our whitetails are about the size of dogs around here. These arrows fly like laser beams and hit like a Mack truck. I am super hesitant to go up in overall weight due to an extreme dump in speed. I cannot get great speeds as is unless I’m shooting 75 pounds which I cannot do. I’m around the 260 FPS range right now. What would you guys change?

I'm not that smart but I could figure it out you have to find the weight that flies best I had beman ics 340s I played with different points found that 100 grain inserts and a 125 grain broadheads fly incredibly well with my setup bare shaft or with fletching it's not that hard if it is your over thinking it or your bows way out of tune

It's the world we live in.. people only hear want they want lol.. I mean it dont matter what FOC you got if your arrow is coming off the bow sideways... I think alot of people do not have a true TUNED bow and then they struggle with this process because the whole time they were shooting the fletchings are helping them so much they think their bow is tuned

Seems you are learning yourself or you are backing down to get the full effect across the board. That 300 spine arrow across the board rant that you were on a couple/few years ago hit the bricks I see. I could not believe Bishop put that recommendation on their site. Makes sense because there isnt one spine for one Foc or draw lengths 24" - 32". I also see that your total arrow weight is way down, from where you started. I seem to remember 700 being an adult weight. Hey... We all learn new things LOL. That said... Myself, I am all over the ball park depending on the bow. 540 - 770 and 22% - 32%. They all fly like darts. Point is.... when have you addressed your own misjudgments and corrections? Dont get me wrong because I love what you are doing (especially with the Ashby Foundation) but it's time for a "Ranch Fairy Review".
