♡About me:
I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. I graduated from University de Savoie Mont Blanc, with a Master degree in Applied Foreign Language. Currently living in France. I speak Chinese, English, French, and now I'm self-learning Japanese. I love teaching and I’m also a language enthusiast! My goal is to help students speak Taiwanese Mandarin naturally and discover Taiwanese culture at the same time.

好棒的影片謝謝你們! One thing that's fun, especially if you are outside of Taiwan, is to "walk" Taiwan with street view in Google maps to learn words on ads, signs, storefronts, buses, etc. Pretty much the entire country of Taiwan is streetview-accessible . And when you see a cool billboard on the street it's very satisfying to look up the words to figure out what they are trying to sell you :)

Here is my system which is a variant of remembereing the hanzi. 1) learn in RTH order using keywords 2) 5-10 a day 3) when you first learn a new character you say the keyword outloud as well as the keywords of that characters subcomponents. do this as you write it 3 times. some examples 想(think) ⿱相[one another]心[heart] "think of one anothers hearts" 模(imitate) ⿰木[tree]莫[nobody] "imitate is a tree with nobody" 查(investigate) ⿱木[tree]旦[daybreak] "investigate the tree till daybreak" overtime when you say the keyword outloud you will automatically think of the keywords of the subcomponents. this is a major departure from heisigs method method as it ignores making stories. but i got tired of making stories and i found writting the characters is relaxing for me. i also ignore using primitive names. by using keywords consistently you reinfroce the meaning of old characters you learned. hope this helps some one. most important thing is do something everyday

We did not learn anything about radicals in my 1-year university level Chinese class back in the '80's, but once I found out about them, I realized how much they would have helped us.

Each character is a riddle, every character has an inner logic. You must decipher it. The characters were selected NOT at random nor haphazardly. Sound, Image, and Idea unite in each character. Phonetic clues are ALSO semantic and/or pictographic. Pictorial elements sometimes include sound clues. What color is the character? What does the character feel like when you touch it? Is it warm or cold, sharp or smooth slippery or rough? See the character and then rotate it in your head.

I'm in NY and I'm learning traditional characters with a language partner in Tawain twice a week. She always teaches me the radicals first. I always look forward to our meetings, it's difficult but I enjoy every minute of it.

My two favorite 老師 in da house! Young Ladies, in my opinion, the both of you are the best Mandarin Teachers in the world. 👍🏼🤗😊 Miss Lin, currently I am Miss Katrina’s student. Her Hanzi Master Class along with her teaching methods makes my learning experience easy. But honestly like I stated earlier both of you Ladies are the best. I always take time out of my busy day to listen and learn the material you ladies put out. So my tip as a foreigner in memorizing traditional characters is exposure. Exposure, Exposure, and exposure. Thank You Miss Lin! 🙏

A simple but efficient trick while rewriting characters multiple times is to always cover the previously written characters. I believe it helps my brain to work more actively with imaging the character. In my experience it's speeding up the process. And then of course try to give meaning to the composition of the character. My favorite example is 想: tree + eye is related to photography, which in itself makes sense. Add a heart and you have a photo of something in your heart. Something or someone you long for. 想.

Hi. For me the most difficult in Chinese is remember every hanzi in each word for example: bingqing, liunian... Do I need to remember and how to write every hanzi in each word by heart?. In Spanish, like French we have masculine and feminine and the most difficult is to conjugate the verbs. The rest is easy. I usually go to Chinese neighbourhood in Madrid to see characters in Chinese. Thanks.

Chinese radicals are pictograph, I think each character expresses itself and has meaning. I feel their formation is generally interesting and seems to tell a story. If you feel the Chinese character is difficult, but wants to read or write Chinese character easier and faster, then study radicals might be the best choice because they are the most frequent and most important role. Here are some common radical: I hope this can help you to learn this such beautiful Hanzi. Part one: 金( Jīn )Gold & Metal 木 ( Mù )Wood & Tree 水 ( Shuǐ )Water & River 火 ( Huǒ )Fire & Cooking 土 ( Tǔ )Earth & Ground Part two: 女(Nǚ ) Woman & Female 人 ( Rén )Man & Person 心 (Xīn )Heart & Feeling 口 ( Kǒu )Mouth & Opening 言 ( Yán )Mouth & Opening Part 3 日 (Rì )Sun & Date 月 (Yuè )Moon & Month 糸 (Mì )Silk & Fabric 竹 (Zhú )Bamboo 艸 (Cǎo )Grass & Plant Part 4 手 (Shǒu ) Hand & Player 足 (Zú )Feet & Full 疒 (Nè )Bed & Sick 虫 (Chóng )Insect & Bug 辵 (Chuò )Distance & Action
