@velipulla nothing weird. I came here on purpose. We have a cow and a buffalo. The buffalo has big tits but needs more force, but for me it's very easy to milk our buffalo. And in case of our cow, the tits are small but still doesn't require much force, but still I can't milk it. I hope one day I'll learn the technique.

My parents bought our first cow when I was 13 and my dad gave me the responsibility of milking her twice a day. He didn't hover once he knew I understood the job. (He did have to kick me out of the house to go do my chores more than once.) My young hands grew strong and sure and I could grab a teet in each hand and raise quite the foam on that bucket of milk. I could usually strip out a cow in about 10 minutes. We used to hobble our cow's back legs so we didn't have to worry about lost milk from a sudden foot movement. Eventually we worked our way up to three cows and my forearm muscles were like rocks. I'm in my 60s now and have often wished I could have given my four sons the opportunity to learn to care for a living animal and provide for the needs of the family like my parents did for me.

Sir, your comment made me very happy. Where are you from? It's like you wrote my story 😊. When I was 13 , my father also did the same. But we didn't have cows, we have buffalos and also, i became a master in milking buffalo. I developed strong forearms and used to try my hand power with city boys of my school. I won with all of them. Very good memories. And still I'm 21 years old. 😊 From india ♥️

This was such an informative video. Very clear and concise. I also admire the time you spent showing the techniques first-hand, and close-up, to boot. My two year old daughter is obsessed with cows...and milk...and, subsequently, milking cows (haha) so this video was very helpful in showing her the process. I love it... she loves it... They don't let you drink it unpasteurized because it goes bad faster that way. That's why pasteurization was invented.

Can you really not drink it unpasteurised? I thought it was only prohibited to sell unpasteurised milk to others, but it was okay to consume it yourself. But I don't live in the US so I wouldn't know. Now I've gotten curious how different laws around this subject are in different countries. I'm going to try and find out. Could well be another difference between the US and Europe in how milk is handled. Just like the refrigeration-or-not-thing.

I used to love watching my grandma milking the cows & I was 10 years old. I grew up with her. Now here people go to the farms to see this. When my grandchild first went to Pakistan first thing he asked was "can I go to a farm house" he had no trouble finding one because nearly every family had cattle & chicken.

As a mother who breastfeeds, I can’t help but wonder if mama cows experience any discomfort or pain while being milked. Also, I appreciate you leaving some milk for the calf!!

My goats compete to get on the stand first. the reality is that modern dairy animals, particularly in the US are selectively bred for milk production. The result is that they usually have very oversized mammary systems that are really heavy, get in the way, and cause pain. It is a relief for them to be milked. Even the less well socialized ones suddenly get friendlier and docile when they need the help!

They are fine. For the most part they barely acknowledge you. Of course they allow the calves to nurse until they are weaned. It's so bizarre the thought process of some. It's hilarious you thank them for doing something that is just common sense. Not done for toy

I've just always wondered if the cow can feel that repetitive squeeze and pull on its body. Or if it becomes sore or something. It's so weird to me how they just stand there while someone is constantly pulling on their utters.

it makes them feel relaxed actually because it causes discomfort all that milk so getting milked for them is like us getting a massage

Calves are a little harsher if you ask me. They use their big boned snouts to bump the mother's udder to stimulate milk flow and they can suck hard and greedy enough to drain a large amount of milk in no time flat.

You mentioned milking "this quarter".... I'm totally new to dairy cows (because I've never had them, but want to have one someday)... 4 teats on an udder... you milk each one? I honestly never knew that. Good information! :D

why, is it because people milk them? really, they would rather be milked because not being milked is very uncomfy for them, its hurts them. therefore, milking is good for them and keeps them healthy
