Here is a simple way to make an angled vise jaw in a CNC mill. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish with only a few lines of G-code and a sub program with a loop command.
Sometimes you need a different shaped vise jaw, for example when you need to secure bar stock. This particular machining operation is completed with 3/4" ball nose end mill to create a 15 degree angle (from vertical).
Stay tuned - next time Matt will be using the same technique to machine a radius on a corner of a part.

While this is definitely one of the least efficient ways to do this, it is definitely one of the best subprogramming school projects I've seen that actually makes something useful. Very cool.

This (sub)programm is amazing 99% of my programms I do in CAM, but this gives me a little more insight in creative programming :)

I don't think I will ever make gcode without my CAD/CAM software but it's cool to go threw the gcode line by line to help me remember them. I'm loving the free knowledge btw so please keep it coming

How did you determine the Z value for this move? Can anyone explain that equation, I'm a little stumped?

You would do the Math on the triangle that is being removed. Side A of the material being removed is 0.60288". So, divide (side A) of that triangle by the number of loop (L=57) passes. Then divide by 2. 0.60288 divided by 57=0.011 then divided by 2 is 0.0055. So, equation is Side A divided by #of passes=B. Then B divided by 2= the answer.
