Leah, you are always the voice of reason. I can always count on you to have a clear, layman's demonstration of how to perform a task the correct way. Thanks again for another superb instruction video that I needed to watch today! You must not be using the 5-minute hot mud though, as you've gotta have that stuff fully mixed in a minute, and all of it installed within 5 minutes. You cannot let it sit around "soaking up the water" for a minute before you even start to mix it.

Thank you for unselfishly sharing this technique. It was like hell before i learnt you technique. I needed to mix it for at least half an hour in order to make it smooth so that i did not have any lump. By that time, the mud was getting hard and i needed to move extremely fast to apply it. Now I can work for more hours with the ease of your technique. Thanks so much.

I literally just made a mess. And I’ve done plenty of drywall in my lifetime. Only used dry mix once before and it dried before I could finished so I had a bad experience with it. Since then I only bought premix. But I had a small project and didn’t want to waste a large bucket so I bought dry mix thinking I could save what I don’t use. Just made a pan full and pushed powder and water all over ended up with an overly wet mix. I will absolutely try this tomorrow

Leah, you totally rock! I love your videos. Being a woman, when I needed something repaired around my house, I found myself having to wait for one of my guy friends to have the time to come fix whatever it was for me. Well, I'm not very patient and I decided that if I wanted something done right away and done to my liking, I was going to have to do it myself. I am proud to say I have done many things around my house. I have replaced my kitchen faucet, cleaned and caulked my stand up shower, found the drain and legs for a twin drain laundry tub that was given to me, then removed the old single tub, installed the double tub and installed a new faucet on the tub. I even fixed my lawnmower. It is an amazing feeling when I am done. There's no damsel in distress at my house. I only recently found your videos and I think they are fabulous. I'm removing the old paint and doing drywall repair in my bathroom so I can repaint it and you are my go to gal for help with this project. I can't thank you enough for your awesome instructional videos. Now, I am 100% sure that I can do it! Much love to you, Leah.

First I just found your videos and LOVE them! What kind of joint compound are you using? The Hot 20 min easy sand mud? That is what I bought to do a couple California Patches. Also, how long do you leave between each soak? 15 seconds? 1 minute? Longer?
@seejanedrill
@seejanedrill 7 жыл бұрын
HI Marcia, if you are using a 20, you don't have a lot of time. You just want the plaster material to absorb the water, so that it's easier to mix to a creamy, lump-free consistency. I'm not certain which one I used in the video...it could have been a 20, but it may have been something else. It was more about the technique for mixing.

Hi I love your videos!! My dilemma is I want to make joint compound wall sculptures but before I go and spend money like you said in your other videos do your homework first... I find that artist that do wall sculptures with joint compound don't want to give up the recipe.... As an artist myself with paints being my medium I don't have a problem sharing my tricks of the trade... So basically what I'm asking is how do I make a joint compound wall sculpture without it cracking and falling off?...Tina
