Good tutorial but I need help here. This may be a stupid question but I m planning to purchase CS2 and metropolis ark 1 libraries. I know that both of this libraries can be used in Kontakt Player. But will the sound be different compare to the full version of Kontakt? Will the sound be horrible? Because no way i can afford the full Kontakt version. I rather spend my money on libraries..
@AlexMoukala
@AlexMoukala 7 жыл бұрын
IF they're compatible with both versions, the libraries should generally sound the same on both versions of Kontakt. Instead, if they're not compatible with Kontakt Player, you won't even be able to read them.

very nice videos alex. thanks a lot for the tuts. though i have to tell you that your works look super compressed some times i can clearly hear that. sometimes we have to rely on our ears too of course. also i've put many works on my daw metering with i.e span only to see lots of spikes. and i mean huge ost like glen stafford's for warcraft etc. some spikes are inevitable though the soundtracks are legendary. cheers.

Hey Alex, love the guides. This one in particular came in really useful seeing as I'm really new and know very little about mixing itself. (I'm assuming this information can be transfered across DAWs?) I do have a question, though. You mentioned websites that help with the more cinimatic side of writing for orchestra. Do you know any sources (websites, KZfaq channels, etc.) that can help with the more classical side of things? I love both types of orchestra but I prefer the classical side a bit, but have yet to find a channel or website that covers it as well as your channel covers cinimatic orchestration. Was wondering where to start.

I stumbled upon this guy just the other day, haven't checked out his channel but this video in particular seemed interesting and talks about that kind of thing, using John Williams as an example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/itynZdh4r7KypHk.html

Just found and love this channel. I have a request. No one on KZfaq has videos on this. Can you do arranging and scoring and mixing orchestral music in Metal songs. I know that a lot of it has to do with writing the orchestrals around the other instruments so that they don't interfere with the rest of the band. No one covers this and you'd be perfect for doing it. There's a lot of amazing orchestral music in Metal songs like Epica or Nightwish. Or listen to Symphony X: The Odyssey. It's an INCREDIBLE 30 Minute Symphony

Hey Alex! Do you EQ each instrument individually, or do you EQ Each Section as a whole? I feel like the mix is muddy for me if I do not give each instrument it's own EQ, and if I only EQ each BUS, it seems like I'm not getting rid of all of the mud. Do you have any thoughts here?

I think it's important not to sound unnatural and fake in the and. If it's sounds good then is good mate ! Break the freaking rules
@DR-zf8qy
@DR-zf8qy 3 жыл бұрын
@@yurianvise1672 Generally speaking, It might sound good to you, but for someone professional with more experience it might not sound good, unless you have trained ears, So you should aim for more precision and get better at it for your own good imo.

Hey Alex,why do you use tempo automations on each section. Btw Great tutorial.Thanks for sharing knowledge.Much respect sir.
@AlexMoukala
@AlexMoukala 7 жыл бұрын
Oh that's just something I do, so if I isolate a group of tracks in the FL Playlist, they still follow the tempo automation.

But this is not how you would treat a real orchestra. This is just a cinematic brickwall using orchestral instruments, not an orchestra. Why not try and mix something like Debussy's La Mer? Or Mahler'6th Symphony? That is the real deal.
@AlexMoukala
@AlexMoukala 6 жыл бұрын
FYI, this is a mockup based on how they wrote the original "Hellfire" cue from Final Fantasy XV, which while it was not composed by Mahler and is very different from the classical style, it is one of the few tracks on the score written mostly with a REAL orchestra if I'm not mistaken. Here's what it sounds like: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLqBZcmourXclWQ.html That aside, I personally like the "brickwall" orchestra sound way more than the very classical one like Debussy etc. It's a different kind from those classics, but still pretty much orchestral music.
@magdiel6709
@magdiel6709 6 жыл бұрын
TheMindCrushGroup Of course it isn't how you would treat a real orchestra, the whole point of cinematic orchestral music is to seem larger and more dramatic than traditional orchestral music, much like how live-action films are very dramatic, stylized interpretations of realistic situations.
