I love mr. hobby / color. Great mixing video. I think though, that when I thin metallics I use the rapid thinner. It’s made specifically for metallics. It drys faster not allowing pigment to settle.

awesome tip, use the jar to measure the thinner is very convenient !! the 1:1.5 sounds reasonable ;)

Thank you for the link for the bottles. I had been looking to do this and was getting over whelmed with how many types of bottles. I picked up the thinner and ball bearings already and just ordered the smaller bottles.

Glad this helped. I use a mix of both the big and the small bottles. I use the big bottles for bulk stuff like primers and main stay colors like white and black

I just switched to a bunch of Mr. Color paints after testing out the lacquer Gpaints. So this mixing guide was clutch lol I mixed up all my colors.

hell yea man there you go. and you can tweak that ratio too to your liking. i use mostly mr color paints also

Just got that leveling thinner. Hoping to try it out with Tamiya liquid primer for my first painted build in a day or two. Solid video, concise and informative. 🤘🐙🤘

I was thinking of getting some mr hobby clear green but I was wondering if the mr.clear green gx was any different (such as if it was a darker shade), I was also wondering if I need to thin it since I mainly do brush painting

i dont do much brush painting myself so i cant say for sure but my guess is if doing brush painting you probably would want to think to the consistency your looking for instead of to a ratio.

Will the paint: thinner mixture last indefinitely in those squeeze bottles? Seems like they'd be less airtight then the original paint bottles. Do they last in long term storage?

Great question man, yes it seals up really well and lasts long term. I’ve been using this method for almost a year without any issues with the paint. Of course after a bit of the paint sitting it will separate from the thinner but that’s what your back bearings are for. Quick shake and you’re ready to go.

It's damn near impossible to find paints(mrhobby/tamiya) locally. Where do you purchase a good variety online who actually have them in stock usually. Awesome production as well my guy.

How long does the paint last in the sqeeze bottle once mixed? Is degradation of the paint over time something to be worried about?

Very useful and educational video , but i have to say that mr hobby lacquer metallics must be dilluted with mr rapid thinner and not with mr levelling thinner or mr color thinner according to mr hobbys instructions
