I want to show you in this video how I modified the 40 years old LEGO Train 7740 to the newer 9volts RC system, using the Lego Power Functions system. Its not very complicated, so I like to share how easily its possible. Because I am using only new Lego tracks and the old Lego 12v engines are gone, it was a good way for the 7740 and it makes so much fun on the long RC train tracks with the old Lego Train from my childhood.

Thank you for putting this together for us. When I was a kid, this train was on my Christmas list, but I never got it. I had a lot of other 12V trains, though. But I still look through EBAY from time to time to see if I can find a nice set. Not sure I would have the heart though to cut out the base plate. But as you said "Einen Tod muss man sterben". Happy New Year and thanks for your nice comment! 🙂Yes, the 7740 is already very rare, even in Germany. Sometimes you can find one, but expensive (300 eur and up). The base plates for the old trains are luckily still good available and easy to find. And its really a very tiny bit what you have to cut out. I made much more than needed. 🙂
