NEW VIDEO: Sculpting Arthur Morgan Riding His Horse | Red Dead Redemption 2 Fan Art Sculpture
▸ • Sculpting Arthur Morga...
My process of molding and casting a clay sculpture without a vacuum chamber or a pressure pot. There are multiple ways of molding and casting, this method was best suited for my needs, and doesn't require special casting equipment. If you found this video helpful and want to show your appreciation you can do so by supporting my work on Patreon. Thank you!

Someone else asked the same thing? I can't seem to find it. I had the same question and was looking for the answer. I see someone else refers to it as a layer of resin.
@CraftyArt

@@brandonc272 I'm applying a first layer of resin with the brush to make sure all the fine details are covered and I don't get tiny air bubbles on the surface of the cast.

Prebrushing plastic into the molds before joining and pouring is a really good idea. It reduces the chances of air bubbles. I will have to give that a try.

I cut the fists in the beginning because their shape has many irregularities that could be problematic when casting. Air can get trapped in high points like the knuckles or tips of the fingers, and ruin the cast. I couldn't vent them properly so I decided to cast them separately to have more control.

Crafty Art if the face/head has a lot of details, like earlobes and nostrils and eyelids, should the head be molded/casted separately as well?
@CraftyArt
@CraftyArt 5 жыл бұрын
@@MsPoliteRants Not necessarily, but it depends. If the face has an open mouth you can get a mold lock, and you may not be able to pull the cast from the mold. I had made a human anatomy model and have cast it in one piece just fine.

What do you do when the hands make some sort of an O shape like they are holding something or doing the OK/666 sign or whatever. Would you make a two part mold for something that small? And how do you cut them of if you have a skeleton of wire inside of it?

July 3, 2019---Thank you for an interesting & educational video. Learned I don't have to use Lego's as a form, especially when the form is an odd ball shape such as your figure. Also, remember to add pour vents to the subject so the resin reaches thru out the mold. And will give a try in coating the mold pieces with resin before pouring. I'm working in 1/35th scale and made several different wagons used by kids. Tried using a syringe to inject the resin into the one piece molds, but when removing them, they broke on me. And yes, I did use mold release on the molds before hand. Suggestions?

I love how “crafty” you got (see the pun? 😂) with making your own casting chamber. I am still trying to figure out what was the purpose of the two blue strings that went from wrist to hip? Also, how did you go about shaving off the excess raisins that sipped thru?
@CraftyArt
@CraftyArt 5 жыл бұрын
The blue wires are vents that will allow the air in the arms to escape when pouring the resin. Because the model will be head upside down when the resin is poured, the air would get trapped in the arms if not for those blue wires. As for the excess at the seamline just use a cutter, it's easily removable.

I want to see a tutorial on how to make a cast of something like an old retro computer case (Amiga to be exact) so I can make a custom one cast in transparent color resin. The case is so thin so I realize I need to fill it with clay and do a two part mold for both the top case and the bottom, but what silicon is the best so it will not sag or bend when I am casting with resin? I have searched for an example of something like this. The closest I've found is a plastic car body, but that is nowhere as large as a computer case.
